It was so great to watch you do a play through, and there were some top tier plays going on, which was great to see! I love seeing people read the puns, then slowly understand them, then realize they've been punned and chuckle at the silliness. It's all I could ever hope for ;)
38:20 When you use the Pizza Coven ability you don't put the goods in the reserve. You put them on the park dragons. If any player afterwords drafts a park dragon with a good they gain the good as well. :)
This was great! My daughter and I have been intimidated learning this game. We read the rules and watched a couple videos and were still unclear and confused. You’re video walkthrough was perfect and we can’t wait to play. Thank you for taking the time to explain this.
This is uncanny: I saw this Kickstarter and went back and forth and ultimately decided against backing it, but I noticed this week that it was on The Hotness on BGG and was wishing y'all had a playthrough so I could decide if it was worth paying retail. 😅 I love the art, but wasn't sure how the gameplay would be. I think you two just sold me!
Such a good game. We house ruled to seperate the fancy dragon decks into moon and sun respectively. It adds another small wrinkle of decision making to the game. Do you want to try and get extra points during the game, or do you take an end game scoring card hoping it'll be something you can fulfill by then. A small change, but super impactful. I highly recomend trying it at least once.
At 41:36 you filled the "Hello Nursery" with dragons but forgot to add a new shop. Had you done this the game would probably ended a turn or two earlier and the result might have been different. :)
I could not believe at 40:33 you actually did have 3 anvils 😂 I was freaking out the whole time like oh nooooo she's going to have to undo another move, but nope, you showed it in a quick little slide action maneuver. haha well done.
Enjoyed playing this with my partner, we loved the art style, but the gameplay was unexpectedly enjoyable! Not too difficult, but enough strategy to keep us invested
@@TiaDurrant I haven't tried with more than two but yes it was good fun with two, but I can imagine it plays better the more players, as more dragons will be placed for each time it's your turn, make the town more lively basically
Nice video, guys. I did spot one mistake though. At around the 32:00 mark, Monique uses the Touch o' Glass shop ability to fire Lavender in her hand, which she swaps with Pan. She forgot to use Pan's fire up ability when she did this.
You guys explain games so stinking well. Even games I have no interest in playing makes me want to spend money (besides this one, it was a no brainer)! So glad I subscribed.. Still waiting for the day Monique plays the synth behind Naveen, though 🐺
That was fun! GG. Just ordered a copy, I think my friends are going to love this one! I was worried that maybe there are too many possible actions to do per turn, but you guys made it look super smooth! Thanks for sharing!
I love that you finally had a chance to play this great game from Cardboard Alchemy, it is a shame to miss on your final thoughts, but love your integrity regarding paid content. I hope you get to show us Andromeda's Edge before the campaign launches next month!
Hey I just watched your video with Tim Chuon and the other guys. You all do incredible work. I am always so excited to see your new content. I think Ark Nova was probably my game of the year as well. I cannot wait to finally get my hands on wonderlands war. It looks so fun. Thank you for the joy you bring to the board game world.
Good game guys. I haven't seen the retail version of this game so far. It looks good. I have a copy of the deluxe Flamecraft and it has BY FAR the best metal coins I've ever seen in a game. I really love them. PS: Are we going to see top 50 videos from you this year?
"Keep your foot off that blasted samoflange!" I like this game, I'm glad I bought it. But I'm also glad that I got the retail version (like you have); as nice as the deluxe components are, I actually prefer the dragon meeples, and the rest of the upgrades aren't worth the added cost to me. Thanks for the playthrough!
Same as well. Of course, my pocket book is glad I missed out on the Kickstarter version and grabbed the more economical version instead. I might be more excited to play it than my daughter. She loves dragons, so excited to see what she thinks of it.
Such a great game! I picked it up at paxeast and your video was a big help in me learning about the game and deciding to pick it up! You’ve got a great chemistry for these style videos, thank you for your hard work!
A really mean but effective play early game would have been to use Daniel to fire the Park, swap the potion dragons for the two bread dragons in town, then use their abilities to draw them. Could have locked your opponent out of artisan dragons for a while if that works the way I think it does 😂
I backed it, I have it but haven't played it yet. This great playthrough makes me want to bring it to the table. But too busy getting ready for Christmas and painting my minis for Sea of Legends (which I also haven't played). *sigh* so many great games, so little free time.
Wasn't that interested in this game before, but quite enjoyed your gameplay. (I was setting up Final Girl and Warp's Edge for solo plays tomorrow while I had your playthrough on.) Naveeeen! Oh......! (That's all I'll say. Ha ha...) GG, guys! (And I saw the designer of the game commented on your playthrough as well. Very nice!)
as always, good tutorial, good playthrough, and nice camera angle. that game is really beautiful and awesome, but I think its too expensive. hope it gets cheaper or something. more videos and more power guys!
Question for the hive mind: when you enchant, say you fire up a meat dragon to place a dragon in town. When you play a dragon in town, do you gain rewards? Say you put that dragon on a spot with 3 reputation points. Do you gain those as part of the full enchantment turn?
Nice job. Any chance of doing the Fields of Arle playthrough next? I asked about it before and you said you were planning it. The game is on Yucata and I want to play it but it's just so damn daunting to learn!
I was interested in the game, but it seems like a fairly simple resource management to reach certain objective type of game. Not sure if my group will be engaged for long with this game.
I think maybe you forgot to open a new store somewhere in the middle. Also two of the store spots at the edge are 4-5 player only, but I'm not sure if this was affected the game (the playmat has it partially cut off, I need to look it up).
I don't really get the theme here, why are we playing as dragons? I thought this game was about raising/feeding dragons or something. But instead we are just visiting stores, managing resources and filling contracts for points. I think some merchant theme would have fit way better.
It plays perfectly fine at 2! The difference is that in higher player counts, people will be required to pay each other goods more often since there are more people going around to the different shops. It's much easier to avoid each other at 2. There are also some fancy dragons that reward you for having the most of a specific good, and that will be harder to do at higher player counts.
We play a lot at 2, as well. Another thing that happens is that the artisan dragons scale for player count, so at 2 (maybe even three), the artisan dragons will deplete before the enchantments deplete. It'll be something to watch as you play. That being said, we still love it at 2 players. Oldest daughter got the KS deluxe content, introduced us to it, and we were able to get a deluxe copy through an online retailer. It's become one of our favorite games.
At 6:22 you were talking about Enchantments and said that if you only turn in one set on that particular card you get 0 points. Why would you want to turn in and get 0 points?
This game is so beautiful, it's a shame that the Brazilian version its so expensive and the components are cheaper than this version, all the wood things are turned into cardboard tokens.
I need this game like... yesterday. I love the idea of gifting as a mechanic and just positive player interaction in general and those cute little dragons just make me go *squee*.
