OK Drelle, I did some research, and that should work. Midori has a relative density of 1.05 and creme de menthe is 1.12. I still recommend mixing it with 151, because Galliano only has a density of 1.11.

Yeah, I have some of the tall skinny shot glasses. I've used them sometimes. I kind of like these type of shot glasses, they're about 2 oz, maybe a bit more.

That's right. It all works by relative density and specific gravity. YEAH..SCIENCE!

It probably doesn't matter all that much. I think Bacardi 151 gets used more, or written down more, because it's readily available everywhere you go. I don't think there's a ton to enjoy, taste-wise, with anything that's 150 proof or greater.

That might work, but I haven't tried that particular variation. You just have to make sure that the top layer has a lighter density than everything below it. Not sure what if Midori is denser than creme de menthe; I'd have to look it up. Please let me know if it works for you.

Probably. It slows it down a little more when you do it concave down.

It might, but I have a feeling that it would be on top instead of the green liqueur. Lemon cello has relative density of 1.05, Depending on the brand. Galliano has a relative density of 1.11.

I figure availability played a part. You can find Everclear and 151 everywhere in New Orleans. I use Everclear because it's stronger and cheaper. Thanks for responding so quickly.

Hey J, whattya say? I really think it's the three ingredients together that give it the cough syrup taste. Galliano on it's own has kind of a weird vanilla/ herbal taste.

You can find both of those here, too, but I'm not confident that Everclear is stocked as universally as the 151. #NOLA

In your opinion, when it comes to flaming shots, does it really matter if I use Bacardi 151 or Everclear? I figure you're only using the rum for flame purposes. No one can possibly enjoy the flavor of 151.
