I'm curious as to why gas furnaces are constantly refered to when justifying use of A2L, when gas itself is trying to be eliminated by the same agencies promoting A2L??

An important point was missed. The GWP effect is when there is a LEAK! not while it's in the system. When & IF it leaks when there is a fire, it will propagate the fire!!! Also, very important flammable A2L (R32 or R454B) might and could INTERNALY explode. This is true if the vacuum process (must be higher than R410A an A1 class non-flammable, non-explosive class) is not perfect (presence of moisture/oxygen) as when compressed the temperature could reach the lubricating OIL ignition temperature, and in the presence of flammable refrigerant (any A2, A2L or worse A3) the oil might ignite the flammable refrigerants! This possibility will not exist if A1 class non-flammable refrigerants are present. Neil Afram Director of Space Air Ltd. distributor of AC & Heat Pumps since 1980.

In the "Cased Coil Mitigation Chart" you refer to the "Minimum air conditioned room area" in square feet, but the "Minimum mitigation airflow" in Cubic feet. This seems to be comparing Apples to Cucumbers.??

You need to explain why the A2L sensor was triggered on a non-flammable refrigerant system. It seems that the solution was to fix the fuel gas leak or whatever contaminant is being detected. If it’s a false alarm, you need to explain what you would have done if it was on an A2L system. The sensor problem should be corrected under warranty. If the manufacturer has a problem, the manufacturer needs to know. Just disabling the sensor shouldn’t be the solution.

The false alarm was due to the furnace coming shipped "A2L" ready and was looking for an A2L sensor. The fault was "A2L sensor not located". The installation manual directed you to enter the program mode of the furnace and select 'A1' installation. Basically the indoor unit could be installed with either an A1(R410a) or an A2L, you need to field select the appropriate matchup. Just goes to show that the most important step in any equipment installation is to read the installation manual.

So if you get a refrigerant leak in an apartment and you turn the fan on to move air that doesn’t get the refrigerant concentration to leave the apartment

The thing to remember is that it would have the potential for ignition in a heavily concentrated space with a high ignition energy. Dissipate into a larger space and there is NO potential for ignition.

So will there be dry units sold for 410A units like they were for r22 systems. Also if customer has a bad 410A condenser and a newer coil. Will they be able to install a A2L unit with that coil.

There will be replacement single component 410a sold for a long time. Not dry like how they did with 22. So basically you can but just a condenser only or a evap only but can't buy them as a full system replacement. And no you can't mix match because of the txv and also legally because of the safety requirements that differ between the two refrigerants

@Froggin87 The downfall of purchasing individual components is most manufacturers are only offering a 1 year warranty on non matched system components. And there should be a supply of R410a even past 2036, but the cost will be astronomical. 2024 added the 30% reduction to the manufacturing of all HFC refrigerants, on top of the 2022 10% reduction. We are currently at a 40% reduction in the manufacturing of HFCs including R410a. Prices will likely sky rocket throughout the year
