I played a "version" of this game on the Apple Macintosh. There it was called "Leprechaun" it was basically the same game but it had different sprites.
When people say that Dark Souls is hard, I tell them to go play Flappy. It makes the difficulty in any modern game look like a walk in the park, just because of the sheer volume of levels.
By clicking on Select, you will see a menu. By clicking on Start, you play. DB-soft made such a riddle in order to mislead the players that the "Start" button immediately allows them to play, and "Select" allows see the menu.
There was even a Game Boy version with 160 levels in two modes. Also, Net-Farm Communications, the current owner of games from DB-Soft, which merged in 2001, published a version of NES on Virtual Console (Wii).
I had this on the 110 games, and didn't even pass the first level, I only payed it for the stupid death animation. Now that I see how the games is played it is a game of Genocide and drug trafficking.
Flappy? Looks like Crappy. Why? 1. One-punch-defeats-you. Enemies and stones destroy Flappy with one punch. 2. Repetitive music. Because of it, the player gets tired of playing. 3. Ear-bleeding "scoring" sound. If the player completes the level while wearing headphones, his (or her) ears may bleed. 4. High difficulty. If the player is stupid, his (or her) can't complete the level. 5. Password confusion. If the player has passed or failed the bonus level, he (or she) is given a password that leads to the levels already passed. 6. Controls. Flappy goes where he doesn't belong. And when he throws the mushroom, player need to control it by holding "B". It causes discomfort.
