On the afternoon of May 6, 2024, a slow moving High Precipitation storm moved into and exploded over Harrisonburg, VA and surrounding areas in Rockingham County. Originally just chasing the storm, we realized it wasn't moving fast at all, which led to the National Weather Service issuing a 'considerable' Flash Flood Warning. Over 2 inches fell between 6-730pm.
Several roads and homes were inundated with water, including @jamesmadisonu , The Arboretum, and Several creeks going out of their banks and into roads and property. We documented this post chase. A significant Flash Flood event was underway.
May 6, 2024 will be remembered by the people in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, VA for a long time to come!
