Rewatching this I didnt even hit all the plot holes when ranting, I just basically lost my mind in this one. Also it was 46 minutes before Dan cut down me rambling at portions lol. What other plot holes are there for this season?

Bro the flash literally turned into a college drama, every episode is someone getting offended by the dumbest things then they go to cry about it and someone says “i got this one” then when the time comes for barry to battle someone they decide to help him and also its such a dumb show, for every new thing he learns he goes from having no clue how to do it and then when someone says yeah man we need you to do this i believe, he suddenly learns an entire new talent within the 2 seconds and defeats his enemy like woahhhhh dude so cool, this show has gone to shit and it keeps getting worse, in season 5 it has literally just turned into iris and nora getting mad at barry for being rude or some bs then when he finds out his daughter was working with the man who killed his mother and he puts her in the jail to think for a bit iris goes ballistic and decides she needs to do everything cause she is so smart, this show has turned into everyone but the flash having an important role cause apparently Iris is a super coach now who knows literally everything and thinks she fucking owns the place then u got cisco complaining about something new every episode then there is caitlyns shitty acting as well as joe and whoever the fuck his new wife is and then there is ralph who I actually enjoy, him and sherloque are the only people i enjoy because ralph is also joking around and sherloque is actually the only smart one who knows anything and he makes everything better, they just need to end the show like they did with arrow because its just straight horseshit at this point, they are trying to hard and its just not working

Ralph was really the best part of season 5. He was fun, and friendly. Like a mate you want to hang out with. At the same time he was smart and proved himself to be a great detective.

The twins would be from the OG timeline when Barry became the flash in 2020 but Reverse Flash changed it to get home.

i think Noras entrance (if it had to be there) should've been handled similar to how Joe handles Wally. When he was first introduced, Joe was trying to prove to him that he was a friend not his father, but then he changed his POV and started treating him as a kid that he cares for while still being a parent.

Remember at the start of Season 4 when Barry came out of the Speedforce, and then was held in a cell, but then broke out of the power dampenening cell to save Iris? Why haven't they touched that plot point that he can break through power dampening systems ever again?

This is the only channel where I can see someone else have the same frustration that I have with the damn cw hero shows. Thanks Benny😂

I love how both Flash and Arrow had no idea what to do with the side kick. Roy and Wally got none of the attention they deserved and instead Flash prioritised Ralph and XS and Arrow got a whole new team without Roy. It's like a batman show where Robin is only in it for half a season and instead Metamorpho was the side kick.... although I think metamorpho would be cooler than most of the arrow/flash characters.

The flash has been disappointing honestly after season 3. It was bland and boring, but worst of all, terrible main antagonist

what i hated about this season: nora`s childish behavior barry`s and iris overprotective behavior cicada always escaping, when he could have been easily been captured negative speedforce making someone immune against timeline changes makes absolutely no sense, because than reverse flash wouldnt even have vanished at the end of season 1 cisco giving up his powers, he could have just left the team ... giving cicada a choice about taking the cure godspeed was totally wasted, just a volicity 9 junky ? WHY ??? this season was a real disappointment :(

Cicada is like Jiren from Dragon Ball Super, so OP that they had plot armour. Even when the characters do something really smart or work together the antagonist would still come out on top.

4 things they need to improve moving forward 1) I know that for the first three seasons people were worrying about speedster fatigue. So the show decided to do away with speedster villains and we got the thinker and cicada. In both of these cases for the first half of the seasons the villain was just meh, and then in the second half they just became awful. The Thinker's whole body swapping phase ruined his coolness and status, and the grown up Grace cicada was just terrible, both in the writing and delivery of lines, she was just absurd. Godspeed would make a great villain for season 6, if they can change his backstory (as compared to S5E18), make him believable and somewhat human, intertwine his story with that of team flash, and not butcher his appearance and powers (they achieved this with Reverse flash, zoom and even savitar, so it should be possible); in this case he could provide a perfect threat. 2) (this has been a little bit better in season 5 than season 4) Politics needs to be seperated from the show's stories. The episode 'Girls' night out' in season 4, in which Cecil's daughter becomes a stripper, and reveals to Joe that she is doing this to control the feminist narrative, and reveals that she only likes Dr Who because she is now a woman, was just painful to watch. The flash is meant to be a superhero show. It is meant to be fun. It requires a great deal of suspension of disbelief. At the point when the audience are thinking about (realising the blatantly clear) the political views of the writer, and the ghastly state of modern social politics, that suspension of disbelief is shattered, as is the enjoyment. This video acknowledges that Iris was a huge part of the problem in season 4 - and just like Comics Explained I actually like(d) the character of Iris and think Candice Patton does a great job with her - but placing her as a tactical head of a superhero group, and making her just so unrealistically capable (as in, it took flash multiple seasons, tens of hours of watching and in the show's time, years, to get to the level of skill Iris gets to within one episode of getting powers - the whole premise of the show is that Barry was chosen by the speed force to be the flash - this is part of what makes the character cool- whereas Iris' quick ascension deflates this while adding no value in and of its self). The flash is a white, male character, and CW can (and should, if it wishes to be diverse) make shows on the good non-white, non-male character that DC has to offer. But character development and believability are what will make the shows good, and the point (somewhere in season 3 or 4) where it decided to promote progressive politics at the expense of these things marked the point where it descended from a truly great shows where we cared for all the characters (including, and more so than now, the characters it now puts front and centre for political purposes - Joe West was, and still is but less so, my favourite character on the show by a fair margin), to the figurative mess it is now. This is one of the things they need to redress going forward - the 'woke' aspect needs to be scrapped, and characters, whatever their race or gender, should be treated realistically, and with respect (and I mean characterisation-wise, on terms of interactions, obviously we accept some sort of meta-science as the show's premise), bringing me on to the next thing 3) The show's name is The Flash. Not the Iris, not flash and friends. 'We are the Flash' was really deprecating for Barry, and felt like a punch in the gut for fans - in short it was an utter let-down. The show is clearly not capable (nor does it need to be capable) of telling a gripping, compelling, and relatable story about a whole group of characters with superpowers. Seasons 1 and 2 told a story about Barry Allen and his life as the flash. This was really intriguing, and the whole idea that a person could run at thousands of miles per hour, with reactions correspondingly fast, was exciting and, and had a lot of weight. Now obviously some of that weight resulted from it being a new show, and unexplored theme. But the ridiculously heavy exposure to characters whose powers make no sense, the ease with which the show passes around the gift of the speed force, and the writers seemingly forgetting to explore what it is like to have super-speed have weakened their greatest strength. In seasons 1 and 2 we were intrigued by Barry's powers, because we would be compelled to imagine what it would be like to have powers like Barry, to be able to slow the flow of time in relation to others, and see things as they happen in microseconds. This was achieved through focus on the flash, and subsequently the scenes in which we see him learn about his powers, and most of all those where we see his perception of time as he uses his speed force powers (e.g he sees a coffee falling ) made him engaging. We have stopped seeing Barry's story and evolution as a character lately though, with the focus moving to less compelling characters like Ralph Dibny, Caitlin, and the unnecessary expansion of Iris West's abilities. It does seem like most of the sources of dramatic tension that enriched seasons 1 and 2 have been abandoned, those being such as Barry's need and responsibility to protect the people around him (as they couldn't fend for themselves, giving the show stakes, unlike now), and the tension that came from having a villain more involved with the heroes (like reverse flash being among them the entire time -the dramatic irony of flash not knowing Wells' identity - or the similar twist with Zoom, and the man in the mask mystery). These twists have been replaced with surface level villains with no relation to the main characters, whose identities we know from the start, whose motives are just 'being bad', and who provide no level of threat besides being a physical opponent to fight and foil the plans of. And this is because the intimate, flash focused realism that the early show thrived off has given way to the expansive 'everyone has powers, and equal importance' nature of the show now. The Nora collusion with Reverse Flash, and subsequent mystery that Sherloque solves is an exception to this, and I resultantly absolutely loved the idea, and the season 5 reverse flash arc in its entirety. No offence to killer frost, or the elongated man, or Iris, but they don't hold a candle in interest and engagingness to Barry Allen. Additionally, the CGI looks like it has got progressively worse as the show has gone on, and I suspect that some of that must be due to the allocation of the show's limited budget to CGI for Caitlin, Cisco and Ralph's powers, hopefully if they bring back and ground the show to the eponymous character, they will also have some leftover money to make him look realistic again. 4) This actually constitutes the final point as well; the flash himself needs to look better. Everyone else in the comments section has also pointed this out, but the no chinstrap look is just aesthetically displeasing, and looks really amateurish. From its conception, the show has struggled with giving Barry a good costume (I think season 2 did it best though), and Barry's head has been perennially oversized (what is it with these costumes and giving Barry a huge, balloon-like, unnaturally shaped head?). I do believe that a better costume would go a long way to improving our perception of the character, as the current iteration looks distinctly low-budget and camp (like 1960s Batman, but plasticised). The Reverse flash, and even zoom costumes achieved this brilliantly, so it seems reasonably that this is within the show's ability. A couple of opinion based things to end on: I really loved Sherloque and sincerely hope they keep him in season 6, the mystery/detective-based element his presence added to the show's dynamic and was my favourite part of season 5. Also, Jay Garrick should be the only remaining regular speedster (or even powered hero) apart from Barry; the personal connection between them and the importance that was forged for Jay in season 2, being at the centre of the biggest mystery of the season, mean that he, unlike others, deserves to actually be included. Plus, he is a really cool character. It's interesting to think about how we as an audience really care about and revel in some twists/revelations (like Cap lifting Mjolnir, or the S2 man in the mask mystery), while others (like finding out Killer frost is still part of Caitlin, or pretty much any post season 3 twist apart from the nora-thawed-sherloque arc) just fall utterly flat, and we don't care about them at all. These kinds of hyped revelations only work when in conjunction with slow, constant buildup and foreshadowing, good writing and interesting storytelling. The fact that 4 years ago the hinted at concept of killer frost on the flash seemed awesome is just sadly a testament to how far it has fallen. All this being said, I absolutely love the flash, even the latest seasons, and will not stop watching. This is mostly due to connections built during the first two seasons. Please let me know if you disagree (or agree) strongly with what I have said, given how much I've written there's likely something above aspousing a view divergent to your own. In any case, I sincerely hope flash can rekindle its greatness, and harken back to the glory days.

As a Caitlin/Frost Stan, I was never content with her storyline this season. I don’t give a crap about her family. I just wanna see how the two are gonna date. That is what I wanna see. I usually don’t like romantic storylines but I’d like to see the hilarious story that would be them trying to date.

There were so many times when the heros just stood there while the villian was distracted. And anytime their friends were about to get killed, they just stood there yelling "Noooooo" when they had a full 5 seconds to stop it. I gave up on The Flash. I tuned in to that show EVERY week, and would actually leave soccer practice early to watch it. My parents and I loved watching it together. And then Wally showed up, and I turned the show off, and never watched it again. They want their own weird universe, fine, they can do it, but I'm not going to watch as some angsty ass teenager who's a damn adrenalin junkie replaces my childhood idol. I heard about what they were doing with that Nora character and was like, "Oh. So, basically, they made a shittier version of Bart too. Lovely."
