Thanks Darren always enjoy comparison videos. Get the L21b sbt90.l2 and then compare it to the L8. That would be very interesting to see. Also, I dont think you like bigger 2cell lights but the m21g xhp70.3 vs this L21b would be another interesting one. Love the cree 70.3 LED!

Thank you mate, I'll look into getting that L21B with SBT90.2 - it'd be a more portable version of the L8. But I can imagine it'd step down fast.

@@DarrenYeoYT Joseph at smothered chrome tested it out recently and yeah it did get hot but it seemed to hold its turbo for a good amount of time. So much better than TS30S/pro which is about the same price

That M1 seems fun, i normally prefer warmer emitters but im hoping i like the all aroundness of the sft40 in the L21B and it came with a grey battery, i want to see that green emitter too. I wonder of there is anything to lose financially if returning a light but im hoping i love it. Last good thrower i had had a beautiful beam balance just the tint was was cool, the fenix tk35 that was 1,000 lumens or something, it has great throw and spill, i lost it long ago in a field. My thrunite th10 v2 was a beast of a thrower headlamp good for the bicycle going down the shoulder of a road. I cant believe im finally getting a convoy. Hopefully the battery is alright in the package its grey D21 or something. Your vids are super helpful. So are weerapats , have a good day

Hey mate, I think one of those cree xhp35 hi LEDs in warm 3000K would be perfect in the L21B or M1. Thanks for your support! Glad your enjoying my videos.

That $38 Convoy outperforms my Nebo Luxtreme. The L8 looks like it's just as good of a value. The battery is the only thing holding it back if it's still hard to find.

That's what I love about Convoy... unbeatable price to performance/quality ratio. Most don't have onboard charging though.

I would go for the L21b in SBT90.2 but I wish they did this in L21A(SBT90.2) - I have seen some reviews and it seems promising.

@@judysimpson3774 the 3x21D if you want the full potential of that SBT90.2, but it's difficult to carry around. The L21A is still chunky though. Either way you'd have to carry it in a bag. If you're only gonna use it every now and then , get the bigger one! Otherwise you'll always be wondering

Hi Darren, which battery and charger do you recommend for the L21b SFT40?

Hi Jakob, I think a good high draw battery like the Samsung 40T or the Molicel P42a will serve you well across different lights. I have the Xtar VC8, but the VC4 is also good - can charge anything!

Hi Mario, yes especially on higher modes. But really, both didn't get too hot. The CULPM1 version of the M21B gets very very hot @8A.

@@DarrenYeoYT Received it, its 5700k tint SBT90.2, the throw is great but has slightly bigger hot-spot than L21b SFT40. Also higher Lumens about 70% more plus bigger spill. The heat regulation is good too as L21a has better heat sink. L21a is a better option than L21b with SBT90.2 Led. I don't think it will beat L8 though.

@@jonskitch8082 interesting, you can google the ceiling bounce app in GitHub by Zak Wilson if you want and figure out when the light steps down. I always like to know that kind of stuff to figure out how long it can hold out. Thanks mate

@@DarrenYeoYT I can possibly try that - the run time on turbo mode was decent, before it started building heat - it did not ramp down. The good news is that the heat travels no where near the tail area. But I am glad I purchased L21a SB90.2 over 70.3 and L21b SB90.2.

I love the throw on the L8, but I don't want a flashlight that needs a hard to find battery (26800). Hard pass for now.

I don't like the oddball quenn battery. That's a deal killer for me, regardless of what else. The L21A has only a tail switch, which I hate. Another deal killer, There are better alternatives in the same category of these light.

These are good value barebones lights if you just care about performance @ a low price point. Can pay more or try a Wurkkos thrower too.
