@ true Kenny that part sad, but how many people made a safe passage crossing. I always wonder what the roadway of the bridge is made from, how did they do it, is it a big stone slab? It would be good to know because that thing wash away
tell dem to put the pipes in the groove on the side and lock dem in with some clamps and screws. then you will not have to worry about loosing and removing the pipes. Thanks for the video...like it
I am from that area and when you see the water so close to the bridge that means the gorge is already flooded. Once years ago I attempted to drive home when the water was under the bridge like that and by the time I got to the corner further around I could not tell the road different from the river. It was just rushing water coming towards me almost covering my headlights. It was God who provided a truck that was ahead of me that parted the water while I drove behind it to get out of that situation. I had to stop just before Kent village to calm my nerves. My hands and feet were shaking. Never attempt the gorge if you see the water that close to the bridge.
True word it almost wash me away when I was a child same way the driver chance it then around the corner water trap us when he decided to turn back some bambo wash and sit right in the middle of the bridge then the bridge was completely flooded trap between rocks and a ocean of rising water.
I have never heard of Flat Bridge, until June 2021, living in foreign, and has never visited Jamacia. What heard in videos about the bridge, I had to research to learn more, and saw this video, and read your comment, and truly believe God's guiding protection was with you, during that scary journey. As I watched the video, I found it hard to believe such a bridge existed without barriers along the sides, and used by car drivers. Could the be reasons for no barriers, 1724 is a mighty long time. From what heard about the history of how and who was use to build the bridge, there must be a spiritual history connected to the water and the bridge. All the lives loss and the marine spirits, part of Africa call the mammy water spirits.
@@lucitacox5170 barriers not possible because of the debris that comes down, sometimes huge trees. It has been attempted but were quickly torn down when it is flooded. They now have gates that block the gorge at Dam Head and the other at Kent Village and yet another at the entrance to the gorge in Bog Walk. The police close and man the gates......sometimes.
That Rio Cobre is nothing to play with. It is the most destructive river in Jamaica. The infamous corner is on the side near Linstead where if you are heading towards Spanish Town before you reach the bridge and you see water there, do not go any further. I lived in Spanish Town and the amount of time me see that river come down, it is frightening. If anyone knows where the hospital is, I remember in 1991 flood rains, the river came down and the water was just a few feet below the level of the bridge near Spanish Town hospital. Jago High School near Monk Street was under water. Parts of Hampton Green under water. Parts of Ensom City under water. The Spanish Town Health center beside the hospital had water from the river near the bridge laping near he building. I remember my father sitting on the bridge and dangling his feet almost to the top of the water. Anyone who knows the bridge right there should know how high the water was because the river is deep down in a gorge right there.
Hi Zina. Great reporting. You must get a logo for your channel and use it as an opaque watermark in the bottom left of your videos. Thanks for being yourself.
That bridge is cursed.... I can never pass it by myself and everytime someone drives me over, my heart beats really fast. Somebody need to fix that bridge or make a higher one
Loss a friend and family member in an accident to that bridge in 95. Utmost respect to it and the engineers. Old broom sweep corner best. The fact that it still stands is a testament to the remarkable engineering that was done.

Make sure when you do your videos you state your channel name or put your watermark. When I did the reaction video I was like I wish you said your RU-vid name in it as I saw it on Facebook. It's after I did it I found your channel.

I had the opportunity to drive over or cross that bridge back in March 15th 2019 yes I visited Jamaica with a client for two surgeries, some friends gave me a tour to that side of the country, really nice, from St. Kitts. So sad to see what’s happening there now. I give my story about that very bridge to my folks
What you should do is watermark your videos. That way even when people steal them everyone will still know that you were the source cause u can not stop that I appreciate the footage. Keep safe.
IF the pipes are broken by the rising river, run some strong wires across the river and suspend the pipes from those wires so there will be no need to sever the pipes each time the river rises. Otherwise that will be a never ending cycle of frustration.
As much as I appreciate these videos, I am not pleased when the information accompanying is not factual. Before tbe advent of the highway, alternate routes were through Barry and Sligoville. Neither of them is the highway, that is a third alternative. One exits at the foothills leadind to Meadowbrook. So please don't just say that if you cannot get by you have to use the highway, there are other routes or if they are no longer available, then just say so as well.
