Nice job on the bed. The gooseneck ball should have been installed just forward of the axle, approximately right above the u-joint on rear axle. If you don’t haul too heavy you are fine where it is.
@tdotw77
@tdotw77 Год назад
I was thinking that it was a little too far back too. Thought it was supposed to be just forward of center point of axle. But then again this is a lot longer than normal trucks. 🤔🤷‍♂️📏📐✏️🔩🔧🛠️👍🚜
@DirtDoctors
@DirtDoctors Год назад
Yeah it should definitely be forward more. It’s not so much the length of the truck as it is weight distribution. That’s why Tractor trailers can slide the fifth wheel. It lets us distribute the weight more evenly if we need to. Where it’s at is gonna make for some pretty squirrelly handling.

17:20 i don't know if you caught it but your metal plate shifted a little while you were cutting it probably because it wasn't fastened well enough. probably resulted in an uneven cut. (you might need to watch the video at 1.5x or 2x speed to see it because that is how i watch it).

Don't beat yourself up about mistakes. They happen. Fix the broken stuff and move on remembering the lesson. The truck looks pretty good and it will be an asset to your business. I'm sure you've already thought about it but you'll need to rings for tie downs. All in all it was pretty interesting to watch you build the truck. I'm glad the driveshafts worked out too. They can be quite troublesome with their length and balance. It looks like you have a good shop making your driveshafts. Keep up the great work Shawn

Turning out nice, i always drill 3/8” holes in the sheeting above the crossmembers and weld the sheeting to the cross beams to avoid the warping or flapping, grind the welds flush if needed and its like a solid chunk. Why no protection to the cab below the back window guard?

Just a heads up for you or anyone trying to recreate this since you didn't mention it. Make sure to disconnect the vehicles battery before welding on it. You can fry the computers if you don't. Even if you aren't anywhere near the vehicles electrical system.
