Real ones remember playing No Limits with 6 Symmetras and getting 6 shield generators so that every Symmetra had 650 health

For anyone that doesn't know about Sym's autolock beam it was worse than Moira's softlock because as long as they were in front of your character model it would stay attached while Moira has to at least aim slightly. That's also why you see the beam curve off screen a few times during this video.

The old car wash was a menace sometimes. You just have a lone tracer or soldier going for the flank and dying in like a second.

Ill never forget the sym "sigma barrier shield" that existed for about 2 months

Flats I need you to know that as a former top 500 symmetra main that the loss of projectile barrier was a bad move for symmetra she used to actually have a chance against characters like soldier 76 and roadhog up close with a timely barrier blocking their hook or rocket I promise it was an incredible move

Back when Sym left click could carry bodies.

They should've kept Symmetra as a Support, she could've set a precedent that Supports don't have to just heal and maybe the balance and existence of the class could've moved in a different direction.

I'll never forget when Symmetra was basically a pyro with aimbot.

Symm has always been the best hero in the game. So absurd and silly and too much fun. I love her so much.

Honest I really think supports sym could have worked if they focused on her utility

I started Overwatch sometime in late 2017/early 2018 so I got in at the perfect time to experience a lot of the characters in their pre and post rework states I REALLY liked Sym v2 and played her a bunch, but understand why they reworked her The floating shield was my favorite part of her kit and the slow ass orb was so funny I like her as a character a lot, but really don’t like modern Sym as much I wonder where the game would have gone had they kept her as a support without ever giving her direct healing, like would they have made other supports with the same kind of idea

Symm was always so annoying on Defense. She just built a death nest and sat in it.

On top of all that with Brig giving Zen 425hp, her rally armor was also bugged to mitigate more damage, and people think others are exaggerating about Brig being by far the most broken release hero.

I have a hard time hitting kiri, tracer, illari etc Small skinny hurtboxes, but with Sym it's unique because not only is she kinda skinny but I can't fucking see because there's is a beam of light directly in my eyes

And now Moira is essentially the old Symm. Moira's got the auto-lock primary attack, and the slow moving orbs. I would really like to see Moira get nerfed. Just don't make her primary attack auto-lock. She should get the Symm treatment and have to aim her beam and it gets a little stronger the longer you hold it on an enemy.

its weird that there was damage flinch back then, but at the same time I kinda miss that bc I die too often while I dont realize im taking damage

What was crazier tho was when your entire team could go Sym and just have turrets everywhere. Then all use shield gens to have the health of a tank player.

I think *everyone* forgets the shield enhancement she had. She had projected barrier and her "Double Ultimate" before the end of the same year.

Man I totally forgot she had the shield generator, let alone the two ultimates. How time flies…..

There was a small window of time you could stack brig rally, brig pack, torb pack and shield gen. 150+75+75+75=425

I love classic sym. I used ti have 70% win rate with her. It was a defensive monster

Blizzard really needs to put Symmetra back in the support role because she can't heal, which is the only reason she was made a DPS hero. I think being a support hero should be more about the unique abilities you bring to the role than just healing your team.

1s overshield isnt bad for a support hero. Lifeweaver does like 40 per second of health. Basically thats symm way of healing

I miss the old sym tp tbh. Besides the occasional trolling, it was actually really fun to go behind the enemy team and put the TP there so your team could die and then immediately flank them after respawning.

Shield gen symm was the best symm. Idc what all you aim = skill people say. And for the love of God, the thing was NOT LOCK ON. It just had a HUGE hitbox. People misunderstanding how symm actially worked was what killed her.

15:28 2nd floor bot needs to be brought back. It was the only bot that allows you to practice jumping on height and fighting an opponent in a doorway (it spawned in the corner where players would hide irl)

All these changes just ruined Overwatch. Give me back my original symmetras and brigs.

Masters ssn 6 (OW1) here, came back on the 31st on a whim right as healers got nerfed. Glad I didn't play OW2 ssn 6 as tanks must of felt like shitaki - still weird with only 1 tank. Although it definitely feels like the matches are really determined by tank counter (slightly...) and healer composition with so many (now) - so.... Give me that tank + healer comp comparison videos, which tank with which healer beats what tanks with what healers that is where the gold is at. They did absolutely cook with the patch on Halloween tho..

Then they gave braindead auto lock ability onto a new brain dead support hero known as moira

I agree that the current iterations of sym is the best she's ever been. Having said that, I'm tired of all the rework and tweaks some heroes are getting. It means i have to relearn (in cases of major reworks) or readjust (in cases of tweaks) how i play. I'm, as fitzy puts it, a "silly hero main" and my roster consists of sym, sombra, mei, mercy if i had to play support, and orisa if i had to play tank. I understand that some heroes had to be reworked to fit ow2 but come on how many times do i have to learn to play sombra all over again? Mei had no stun on primary fire, and then there's deep chill, and then there's no deep chill again. How many times have mercy GA been changed? Sym's turret bombing and death gate is no longer the optimal play, scouting turret is, oh and also now it's better to poke with m2 instead of lasering bitches slay the house down boots. I wonder how doom, bastion, torb, and brig mains feel about their constant reworks and tweaks. I know the heroes usually get fine tuned to their best version, but the inevitable involuntary eyeroll at every patch note is real.

OW1 memories are so good. The map, play style and community are just better. Sym was a menace back in the day

25:42 shame it didn't do ATTACKER shield gen spots. I vividly recall an evil ATTACKER shield gen spot on Junkertown, partially glitched out of the map, pretty much just outside attacker's FIRST spawn, that stretched all the way to THIRD point capture. There simply wasn't a way for defenders to destroy it unless they had a sombra or pharah willing to travel to Narnia for the next minute and a half
