Never seen anything more than $20 tip from Uber or Lyft. I've seen many times the customer shows me them giving me a $20 tip and the app never shows me and never gives it to me

Throttling earnings… Au delivered 2 food orders last week (2 pick ups, 2 drop offs) $30.50 & 1 of the customers gave a $24.95 tip mind you 1 order had a food cost of $236 & the other was $44 so yes I delivered $290 for $6 not including tip, such a joke

Every market is different. My market here in Ontario canada, we have percentage based tip choices, not just dollar amount. As well on ubereats there is a Cap of 50.00 tip to the delivery driver. Say for example, you delivered 500.00 worth of pizza to a office party, and the person that placed the order wanted to leave 15 percent. Well sorry NOT ALLOWED 15 percent is 75.00, 50.00 is the max allowed which on that amount equates to 10 percent.But then again we dont have upfront information on uberx. All we see is how far away pickup is in miles, time to reach the pax, and star rating. Thats it yep nothing more. So it seems like worldwide perks for certain areas , but mind you nothing on uber is a PERK, its your god given right as a independant contractor

I don't take a Lyft of Uber. But,if I end up taking one,I always tip in cash too. I don't trust the apps to compensate a driver for their service. I usually would just tip directly with cash itself. Including the fact that Uber and Lyft are good for stealing drivers tips. Or even sometimes,if that rider tips a good amount, they'll lower the amount the driver accepted the trip for,and use the tip to make up for it. These companies are as shady as they can get. Shame on these Uber and Lyft. Karma will be coming for them soon.

@@AskTorstenRemember the Massachusetts class action on tips? I believe the atty was named Shannon? That was a long time ago. Recently, just before the new year, Lyft advised me "You did not receive a tip." When I called them out on it, because it was an odd amount and the rider told me that Lyft would not allow the rider to give me more, I contacted Lyft when the tip didn't come thru the app. When I asked Lyft for a full receipt to see what their service fee was, I got the speel of "You accepted the upfront price of the fare." When I said, "Did my rider pay more than $29.56 for this ride?" Like magic, my tip for $29.56 SUDDENLY popped up on my app! Would you like the full dialogue sent to you? They were caught!

The biggest issue we have as Uber drivers is that Uber collects the fare amount from riders, they see how much riders tip and they get greedy. I drove yellow Taxi in NY, I collected the fare from passengers and paid the daily rate to the taxi company. The cab company owned the car and they didn’t care to know about the tips I received. Uber is nosy and scammy. As long as Uber collects the fare and tips, drivers will always be at a disadvantage.

I’m slowly phasing Uber out. I just turn on the app when I’m running errands and cherry picking. Went from 20-30 hours a week including weekends to 5-8 hours. Tops.

I agree with you, Professor. Also, another theory is that Uber try to save money of customer as long as possible by lowering tips, so next time customer will check bank account and would be still money and customer may order food or another ride. But same time,another theory, Uber increased their fee. So from here, we may understand that, they simply try decrease possibility to tip by this customer won't feel that Uber increased fee. Anyway on this game loses only driver unfortunately. Sad story

This is a new prompt. Uber still takes tips on the percentage tipping. The rider tips their percentage for their ride total but only gives the driver the percentage of the upfront price. Uber keeps the rest.

Minimum tips of $2 or give a reason for no tip. That is something could strike for, minimum tips. Tips not a political issues addressable by legislation, it’s employer worker negotiation issues. A tip legislative issue is Uber limiting tips, that is Unfair Trade Practice enforceable by law, state Attorney Generals, etc. In a best works scenario, Uber doesn’t even have access to what the drivers make except for tax info sent to the driver, and that amount, trip bids, is a bid from the driver, not Uber on the trip. Uber can only calculate or just adds their standard amount to the fare bid. Vloggers like Rideshare Professor help on issues like these.

Attorneys can look into that ,especially Attorneys general. Drivers are kept in that unknown like tips being held up by Uber and lyft after the ride completed and that leave the driver states of not knowing who of riders tips or if he even gets tips...thus giving them leverage to steal 2-If the riders is kept in the same unknown what is that those companies are hiding.

I confronted uber about limiting the amount they can tip us drivers and was told that the rider can only tip us a maximum of 2 times what they paid forvthe ride. Example rider pays 5.00 for the trip the maximum they can tip us is 10.00 such BS what gives yhem the right to limit how much we can be tipped. They started this new rule on March 21 2021 I was told by customer service when I called them. I had a rider wanting to tip my 40.00 and the app would only let the rider tip me 17.00 such total BS

It’s imperative to position this Algorithm for what it is. Our team has mathematically narrowed it down to the following formula. In order to maximize the surplus of the production output of any “earner” aka / “volunteer employee hybrid”; at a bare minimum, one -and a maximum of 4 factors must be ALWAYS present in every Driver on these platforms.
