Really? A boy that saves the planet, falls in love with a sexy alien, has weirdest things growing out of his head and uses guitars as weapons and you think anyone would care to watch him do something as earthly as actually PLAYING a guitar? ;D Anyway same here, not that much into anime but I love Furi Kuri
The more older I got the more I realized in this episode? Haruko left Naota b/c she didn't get what she wanted and Naota believed that deep down she felt the same as him which was love. And Mamimi left Naota finding a purpose again after his older brother left her. It's bittersweet in my opinion, at the end of the day at least Naota started living a normal life again. At least Kanti stayed at the house lmao! That's the only character that never left cause he was made by medical mechanica. Since everything was over he ain't had much of a purpose but to be useful to Naota's family
damn Noata had the guts to say I love you, I wish I had his courage at his age. I'm 25 and I still can't say it lol. Maybe I need a big gigantic bird to come out of my head first
That's sort of the point. He was never anything more to her than what she could get out of him. The entire anime is an allegory for growing up. Experiencing puberty, the first throngs of love and all the hormones involved, and realizing that your first relationship is never anything more than caring about what you can get out of the other person, and what they can get out of you. The anime has a lot of layers. Almost all of them having to do with growing up. Changing from a child into an adult.
2023...the nostalgia this brings is gut wrenching. Late Saturday nights alone in the dark as a teenager, no one to care for and no one to care for me back.
a boy coming of age, and the visual representation of his feelings and conflicts in a screen as he reaches maturity (rewatch it with this concept in mind, and remember: "nothing happens, it's always the same", the robots and fights are naota's mind coping with all, symbolism everywhere
Nacho -Marti also pretending to be mature (not wanting to be a cat, “that’s kid stuff” whilst still being a kid and complaining that he doesn’t like spicy food and sour drinks) vs actually being mature (swinging the bat and opening up about his feelings to Haruko.
@@parjai97 exactly. I got it all. And the ending is Naota realizing that he should always live life in the moment, and focus on being a kid, and stop trying to force himself to be something he’s not. Cause being a fool is cool.
Although it may seem pretty weird, Fooly Cooly employs fairly obvious symbolism, as others have pointed out its a "coming of age" story with a focus heavily on nihilism, growing up (is bad), adults are negligent, obnoxious, and perverted, lack of agency or ability to change anything, the greater world is cold and machine-like. All of these elements create a distinct feeling that Naota (the protagonist) is small and insignificant both in a self internalized way (his brother left him, brothers ex-girlfriend uses him, his child-like father) and literally in the world (Medical Mechanica the giant steam iron looking thing looming over town). Haruko and the pirate king stuff (the fight you watched here) serve as instigators that shake up the established world revealing a grander story that incidentally involves a reluctant Naota. The story concludes with a return to "normalcy" but now the sky is blue, the Medical Mechanica building is nonfunctional and tilted, and Haruko's guitar is in Naota's bedroom. In summary, man v. machine, love wins, and growing up is inevitable.
I love the implication and possible reveal here, that Haruko is in fact Atomsk’s crazy ex-girlfriend who’s on a mission to further mess up his life, and like a guy who’s being stalked, he’s trying to get away from her
I was never really into anime that much..but this one i really liked..i just wish they could do just one more episode that show FLCL world in the future..Maybe show Naota older..and he can play the guitar XD..sounds like a great idea to me
@@dethhollow You are right, there is now way they could top the original, but I was expecting something more... The new season were just mediocre. Now they anounced two more seasons, I just wish they are at least better than Progressive lol.
This was the first episode I saw, on adult swim forever ago on it's original run. And the last time it aired for ages. I started to think I dreamed the whole thing till I finally found out what it was way later.
@HatashiHinata Nah Amaro thought she was, and that´s why he thought It had a humanoid form when Atomsk was first mentioned.... acclaration from an interview
One thing i think if funny: Wait intill next time; saying that she WILL return; as in maybe a possiable 2nd season, this is a perfect scape goat into a second season! Yet i highly doubt that it will create another season. BEST ANIME EVER!!
