Well, Cindy, winter’s coming on. Good time to reupholster your other chair! You just must! Because, those three GORGEOUS pieces put together are a showstopper. So absolutely beautiful. No, I just haven’t taken the plunge into blending paints yet. Maybe in the aforementioned ‘winter coming on’ I will get the nerve. That lotus blossom transfer (along with a couple of others from Dixie Belle) are high on my want list. I enjoyed this, thanks for sharing.

It’s so funny you say that about winter is coming - that’s the reason I reupholstered the first one LAST winter😂😂 I’m looking at that chair as I type this and it is calling my name😊 Thanks for the encouragement Sarah!

Well that was fun. Your table turned out gorgeous. As you were stippling the two table legs, it did remind me of the walls I did back in the 80’s and 90’s(?). Loved it then and love it now. About the underside of the table legs not being painted…..that is a personal thing. Do what you love and love what you do!

We have the same memories about stippling! It was such a pretty look. I’m glad I was able to do it on this furniture piece and It was easier with this paint than it was with latex wall paint😊 Thanks for the encouraging words about creating in our own specific way😊

I like the tapping kind of blending. If I’m going to be painting furniture, I will paint it all. Your table is so pretty.

@@ReinventedDelawareI think if you would have put down that first coat in the blending style you were doing originally, you would have been able to perfect it on the second coat. The stippling looks a little too sponge painted, so I prefer the blending. It was actually starting to look pretty good, I think you gave up too quickly. Try again, you’re almost there!

I remember we had a table like that when I grew up. Had a little drawer, with a circular handle. My mom would a few tablecloths to put on it, depending on the season. She also opted not to use tablecloths. I forgot how beautiful the natural wood was. Do like what the colour choices you used as well. Thank you for sharing with us.

If the underside shows, I paint it. Otherwise I think it looks like the job is unfinished and hastily done. Love your dabbing technique. It looks soft and textured and blended nicely.

I absolutely love the colour choices and the finished design. I understand that you prefer to leave the backs and underneath of furniture unpainted but I think it looks unfinished so always paint those parts. Personal choice.

Hi Cathy, it's something I started with my first furniture makeover - I like to have a little nod to it's past and original fiinish. I do clean up the edges if any paint has gotten on the underside surfaces from my paint brush :) Thanks for your input!

The table really turned out sweet looking. Adding the transfer flowers looked pretty on it. But here’s my honest opinion. You know how I feel about painting furniture. I only do it if it has a lot of damage veneer or it’s just plain ugly that it needs to be painted. I realize that’s not a original piece but it’s still a good looking table. I might if painted the top left legs it wood tone or vice a versa. Don’t get me wrong I do love color n the colors you picked were so pretty. But I’m just not sure about painting. You want to bring more colors into your home n by golly that’s your right. So go have fun with it. Yes, as for me I believe if your going to paint a piece you need to finish it completely. That means the back n under legs n table. Not sure about the blended colors. I’m still thinking about it. ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟 PS. Did I miss a pod cast on Friday? 🥰

I love unpainted furniture too Shelly! I didn’t show the damage that this little free table has and that’s one of the reason I painted it. The top is mdf board with a faux finish and for those reasons I thought it was a good candidate for paint. I probably should have gone into more detail about that so thanks for bringing it up! BTW, we are taking a two week break from the podcast. Life as been full lately 😳We will return soon! Let me know if you have a topic you would like is to talk about. Thanks so much for asking about it! That means a lot!🥰🥰

@@ReinventedDelaware Now I feel bad running my mouth LOL. Yes, I must admit it would helped if you did mention the damage. I’m sure I’m not the only person out there who prefers showing off the wood. Curious though, on the feet was the metal brass or just plain metal? I don’t blame you one bit in painting it. Seeing the top was MBF board definitely paint it! I said before the colors are tea pretty.🥰
@ReinventedDelaware
@ReinventedDelaware 9 месяцев назад
@@shellydehart8217 please don't feel bad! I appreciate your input - this helped me to realize that next time I should mention this kind of detail:) The feet were plain metal - they were not brass or at least they were not quality brass. On other Duncan Phyfe pieces, I have removed the brass feet and refinished them with Rub-n-Buff. It's a great way to enhance the brass look. I could have used it on these feet and it would have improved it Our conversation sounds like a podcast episode in the works! :)

You leave the under side of the legs unpainted? I can see not painting the back of a piece because it will be against the wall but you can clearly see the underside of the legs & it makes your project look absolutely unfinished 💯 Sorry but just being honest ❤

Your table is beautiful, but since you asked about painting the underside, to be honest, I feel it looks unfinished. I heard you say it's a thing you do. So I guess I'm wondering why are you asking others opinions. If that's your thing, then that's your thing. Keep true to your own artistry. 😊
