Just noticed how he says in this version "And I could wait tables while you ran the store" which is different from the original which goes "And you would wait tables and soon run the store." I think that's such a cute little change, the sharing of labor feels more intimate and romantic that way. 🥰

Both versions of these songs are awesome. They each have a different vibe about them. What I love about these songs (cuz they feel like two different songs to me) is the hidden meaning in the little nuances, especially the slight lyrical change. The change in lyrics shows an emotional and mental maturity that the 10 years afforded the Lyricist. And I agree that change makes it is more intimate and more romantic.

I hadn’t listened to pretty much any fleet fox albums and you can IMAGINE MY SURPRISE when suddenly I hear… the song my ex boyfriend “”””wrote””” while we were together???????? Then another… and another… and another….. some from Bon Iver, some from his college friends sound cloud one dashboard confessional song even….. so far found over 20 there’s only about 2 I’m missing…. How’s that for a dumb story…. Of all the shitty things he lied about to cover up what he was really doing, something about PRETENDING someone else’s art is coming from you just really alienated me to a degree that months later I still feel sick… ick…

he might not be lying. it's weird moment many artists of all types are heading towards the center of whatever inspired all of us. Part of myself thinks it stems from my own personal life story listening to these songs and watching on the screen. yet i couldn't care less about taking ownership of anything. We all just have had our own experiences and sometimes it connects in some ways with another. Are we approaching the end to this great machine we all have been a part of?

Now the oldies, I mean the ones only on youtube, 🥲 they're My absolute favorites! Especially Wild Mountain Thyme. I love all the work that Robin puts into all of his music, and even though I'm sure some of those songs weren't "finished" I'm pretty sure it's better than I could ever do! 😂
