This is a wonderful version of a truly beautiful song. When Judee died, there was no obituary and many of her former friends didn’t know for years after that she’d gone. Thanks to my mum, I grew up with her music all around, and I always loved this song. RIP Judee Sill
This cover was the first time I had ever heard of this song or Judee (I was at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley CA when Fleet Foxes performed and they did this song). I felt the same chills then and I felt them again listening to this. I was brought to tears at the venue and couldn't wait to rush home and hear Judee's original for the first time
What a privilege to hear Robin Pecknold sing one of the very greatests of songs. Utterly beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this 'shimmering memory'.
What a lovely, breathtaking cover. So well played and performed! It's hard to capture the original transcendence and atmosphere it emanates. But you all did it!
Judee's best song, so glad others have found it and keep it alive. Love the addition of the horns! Excellent, sensitive vocal, so good. Didn't hit the high octave, 1:57, 3:44 -- dude, that's a major part of the song, pretty much its climax. It's OK to lower the key to make sure you can hit it, the important thing is to go up there, the melody lines end: 3rd, then 5th, then 8th.
