In this video, we sort out a massive vacuum leak that was causing our 2008 Chevy Aveo to run horribly! Per usual, we didn't know what we were doing, the project seemed to fight us around every corner, and it took much longer than expected to complete ..... but, we got 'er done :) Enjoy watching us struggle, and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments below. Thanks for watching, and we hope you'll check out some of our other projects on the channel!

Great tutorial! I am getting ready to do the same to my Aveo, same year. I was a little apprehensive about doing my self but, I got this. What was your actual time from start to finish to complete the job?
@StaySlyh
@StaySlyh 10 месяцев назад
Awesome, good luck! Unfortunately, I cannot remember exactly how long this took as it was 3ish years ago. I'm fairly confident we got it done in one day (definitely only 1 weekend). Regardless, make sure you have at least 6 beers ready, it's essential to the process lol

that metal thing you were fighting all the time is the return pipe of the EGR valve which recycles uncombusted fuel and gas so they have a 2nd chance to produce some work!and of course less polution to the envinronment!great job!!!!!!!!!

How did you get the bolts imbetwen the intake manifold? I have nothing that can fit in there... Plz help I need to fix my aunt's car lol.
@StaySlyh
@StaySlyh 4 года назад
Yes, those are a huge pain. Between the 16:30 and 19:30 marks in the video, I think I explain what ends up working for us. Again, I believe we made it harder on ourselves than necessary by not removing the heater core line. I think if you remove the heater core line, you *should* be able to reach all of the bottom intake manifold bolts by reaching from the passenger side (where we made room by rotating the alternator). I hope that helps. If you have any additional questions, or I haven't yet answered this one, feel free to comment again! Good luck!!

One additive that'll help tremendously is MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil). MMO helps by keeping moisture at bay, lubricates the fuel pump, injectors and upper part of each cylinder and keeps fuel system free of varnish/deposits. MMO will also increase MPG.

Only put the RTV on curved surfaces and sharp angles that might be hard to seal with the silicone gasket. Also follow the valve cover tightening sequence closely.

Hello, I have a problem. The code appears Miss Fire P0300, and I changed the wires, accessories, switches, and gauges, and when operating in the morning, the r p m rises to 2 and goes down, and the same problem is possible.
@StaySlyh
@StaySlyh 4 года назад
In my experience, random misfires are difficult to diagnose. Vacuum leaks can cause this type of issue. Just try to think of anything that could effect all of the cylinders, not just limited to one. Im sorry if that's not helpful, but I'm not a professional. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you're able to figure it out!

@@StaySlyh how long did it take u all together more r less cause I'm about to do 1 without a lift tho
@StaySlyh
@StaySlyh 2 года назад
@@davidrosas9455 this was definitely an all day job for us. If I remember correctly, we started around 9am and finished that evening - maybe around 8pm. The lift makes it convenient, but it's totally doable on jack stands. Again, the things that really slowed us down were: 1. Not having any prior knowledge of the process (couldn't find a YT video on it before hand). I was trying to figure it out as I went. In other words, I had no gameplan And 2. Not removing the heater core line because I was too cheap to waste the coolant. I can't guarantee it, but I THINK the process would be easier with that heater core line removed and accessing all of the intake manifold bolts from the passenger side after moving the alternator. Feel free to reach out with any questions. I can't promise I'll have answers, but I'll do my best to help! Good luck!!
