The woman singing lead in this particular song (it’s not always the same person on lead) is the incomparable Stevie Nicks. She’s the only woman inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice - as both a solo act and as a member of Fleetwood Mac. She’s also a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and considered one of the great songwriters of her era. I was lucky enough to be able to see Fleetwood Mac perform live and it remains the greatest/happiest night of my life. RIP Christine.
This album, Rumours, was number 1 on the top 200 albums for 31 weeks…..which I have read is the longest run at number 1 of any album ever. When this came out, and still today, this album is famous for its production values…..an aurally perfect album. This was a huge “cross-over” album, with teens, thirty-somethings, rockers, country fans…..pretty near everyone loved this album. It was everywhere, and spawned 4-5 Top 50 radio hits. It was huge. As others have alluded to when 5hey have said Christie McVie RIP…..Christie is no longer with us. What I haven’t seen mentioned is that she died yesterday, so this video couldn’t have dropped at a more appropriate time.
Fleetwood Mac is a band that has gone through a rollercoaster in terms of who's been in it. The only consistent members have been the rhythm section duo who give the band its name: drummer Mick *Fleetwood* and bassist John *Mc* Vie. The band's most commercially successful period include Fleetwood and McVie as well as the singers and songwriters of Lindsey Buckingham (who was the lead guitarist), Christine McVie (who was the keyboardist, RIP), and Stevie Nicks (who didn't play any instrument, really, but did sometimes play tamborine)
OMFG you are discovering Fleetwood Mac! Whaaat tf... This is gonna be so so so good. Super excited for you!! Stevie Nicks on vocal and the whole band, its absolute magic.
This is one of those perfect albums in Rock and Roll History. It just came together and it's a treasure. And don't sleep on the other songwriter and also lead vocalist and then they all do backing vocalist for each other, Christine McVie (Perfect), who died recently. #RIP. Check out her hit song Songbird from this exact same iconic Rumors album.
Your intro is always well said! I was so shocked by Christine McVie's death, but what really threw me for a loop was how old she was. She looked fantastic for 79!! RIP
We have Black American people to thank for ALL the modern music today, born from the days of slavery was THE BLUES, every one that you've played so far were influenced by the BLUES, so whether you're a Rock, Rap,Hip hop, fan it's ALL from the BLUES, so USA and especially the Coloured descendants, thank YOU thank YOU. for the modern music today. Love and peace from Perth Australia 😎🖐🎵🎶🎵🦘
I've loved FM since they were a Blues band with Peter Green, play one of their oldies, another ripper is Rattlesnake Shake. So sad to hear of Christine McVie's dying, so so sad. 😎🖐🎶🎵🎶💕
Fleetwood Mac is named after Mick Fleetwood, drummer and guy with the cool ponytail, and John McVie, bassist. Singer on this song is Stevie Nicks. Also Christine McVie, former wife of John, on vocals and keyboard and Lyndsey Buckingham on guitar
This album, Rumours, has so many great songs and their music was so distinctive with brilliant lyrics. Welcome to their music you're gonna freak out in a good way. R.I.P. Christine McVie you gave us so much great music and memories.
R.I.P Christine McVie from Fleetwood Mac......Great song written and sang by Stevie Nicks... Fleetwood Mac were formed by The late guitarist Peter Green, John McVie (Bass) and Mick Fleetwood (drums) Peter was a well known British blues guitarist who had built up a huge fan base in the band "john mayals bluesbreakers" after leaving this band, he wanted his new band named after john and mick and to be less about himself.. Christine McVie who death was ,announced yesterday age 79, was johns ex wife , she played piano, keyboards and was a,prolific songwriter and sang and wrote many of macs hits. She joined the band in the early 70's I think or 69..🤔.. Lindsey Buckingham (guitar and vocals) and Stevie nicks (vocals), both joined Mac in the 70's and wrote many of macs biggest hits, after various line up changes...this classic Mac line up of Mick Fleetwood, john McVie, Stevie Nicks , Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie would record the classic Rumors album from 1977 and many others like Tusk, tango in the night, where the band would become global superstars selling millions and millions of albums, the early incarnation of the band featuring peter Green on guitar , took a very bluesy musical output , definitely worth a,listen too bud.👂
Love your post, and I also love when they jammed on Rattlesnake Shake 25 minutes of pure Blues, RIP Peter Green, and now Christine McVie, I'm 82 years young and just been diagnosed with lung cancer, I'll try and fight it, but even so I've lived through the greatest era of music never to be repeated, hi from Perth Australia 😎🖐🎶🎵🎶🦘
as someone who's old as dirt, i'd just like to say ~ how cool it is to see someone from a younger generation enjoying and discovering music i've loved for so long. the world sucks right now ~ but this gives me hope. cheers.
You are really working your way through a lot of great British bands. Try the group Yes, “Roundabout” is a good place to start. It’s another rabbit hole to dive into.
Amazing reaction, man. Loved every minute of it, and you keep being yourself, then show this to the producers when pitching your own TV/radio show. I think it'll go a long way.
I have been a Fleetwood Mac since 1977, it's awesome to see generations after me to embrace our music 🎶. Just subscribed. 😉 Btw this is the original recording from the album, Stevie's Voice is just that good honey, and so is Christine McVie s. Unfortunately we lost her last year.
the guy and woman on the cover is the singer stevie nicks and guitarist lindsey buckingham. they were couple but was going through an emotional breakup during the making of this album which turned out to be a masterpiece.
Oh wow, you've just let another genie out of the bottle. Take three of the most talented singer-songwriters of the past 50 years and stick them together with one of the tightest rhythm sections the world has ever seen. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you.... Fleetwood Mac. As you know by now Mark, we lost one of those singer-songwriters this week, the brilliant and beautiful Christine McVie. Please check out some of her material, especially You Make Loving Fun, Little Lies, Everywhere and Songbird. Absolutely heartbroken, mate.
Yes indeed the Brain Squeeze was the best decision!!! That is the beautiful Stevie Nicks singing. There is no Mac 🤣🤣 but there is a Mick Fleetwood (drums) and John McVie (where Mac came from). Just odd you released today and Christie McVie (vocals/keyboard) passed away yesterday. 😭 Absolutely loved your enjoyment of this 💯😁 besides Leddy, one of my all time favorite groups. They have so so many great songs....The Chain, Gold Dust Woman, Little Lies (Christie sings), Tusk, Landslide, Go your own Way, Rhiannon...the list can go on and on. Rumors album...all of it Ps..the ponytail guy is Mick Fleetwood
Tusk is a great song, plus plus plus, great band, I remember radio almost killing this song… almost, I still know all the lyrics from hearing it so often 🤓
This is an album you play in the summer with the windows down while driving to your favorite beach, getting thumbs up by passers by timeless classic album👍
Can't believe we've just lost Christine McVie. 😥 We saw the tribute band "Rumours of Fleetwood Mac" earlier this year and they were brilliant. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jaBneY-0joA.html Don't pass by an opportunity to see them on their 2023 UK tour.
RIP 😥😢 CMV thanks for the music 💜💜 and for being there through my life. A wonderfully talented prolific singer songwriter and performer in her own right the lyrical heart of Fleetwood Mac.
Stevie's voice is very seductive and sweet... it permiates your soul. I had a huge 'crush' on her as a teen in the 70s... still find her voice is smooth.
Stevie was so popular back in the day. Bars would hold "Stevie Nicks Look Alike Contests", and the chicks would pour in, all dressed to the nines in their fav Stevie Nicks outfits! And of course that brought it lots of onlookers and voters, and beer drinkers and hell raisers... What a hoot!
Mark...Just love the energy that you have for every one of your reactions. It makes my day watching you..every single one. I suggested earlier you gotta do some AC/DC live at River Plate. I wanna see you go right out of your mind cause there energy is about the same as yours (through the roof...lol)
The chorus has been sampled or used in a lot of dance tunes over the years with varying degrees of success. My fav is BT's remix of the Wild Colour track Dreams, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ipjNW3Hdv5g.html but then i love BT :) Thanks as always, stay awesome .. much love
Wow, an interesting band it is! My fam grew up listening to this band and I’m just hearing them for the 5th time. I heard one of the members named Christine McVie passed away so may she rest in peace. 🙏They’re great. Thanks so much for sharing the reaction of this interesting band and it’s a like and thumbs up.😄👍#fleetwoodmac
I quite like the remix deep dish version. For those of us who were around to hear it the first thousand times it was played, it is a refreshing change of pace.
hey man.. just wondering how well you know the beatles ? we all know the classics but if you havent specifically listened to all their albums they will completely surprise you, blow your mind even.. tracks like helter skelter , tomorrow never knows, i want you (shes so heavy) etc .. will probs completely change your mind on who you thought they were, not to mention the hoarde of people who love reliving and seeing someone discover quite how diverse they are.. just a thought.. also a thought is "when the levee breraks" by led zeppelin.. cant wait for that to find its way into your ears and watch your head twitch like a mf !! big love man.
Dreams is in my top 20 and I'm a hip hop head as well. Total Eclipse of The Heart by Bonnie Tyler is my favorite song you definitely have to review brother from another mother. Everyone in my town knows when it comes on at the bar I played. Always True, Woody
Ha ha ha ha yes. Diversifying Brainsqeeze is the best thing you could have done for your music loving soul. Every song on the Rumours album is a gem. You have an almost infinite wealth of moods and musicianship to discover and enjoy. I’m looking forward to sharing your journey of joy. Be well, Mark Hector.
At work and I need some energy in my brain so I’m binging in good your reactions to the groups that were active when I was in my teens (I’m 65 now and your reactions are the antidote for my narcolepsy) #HOG Fam ✌🏽
Fleetwood Mac started off as a blues band in the sixties... Drummer Mick Fleetwood, Bassist John McVie.. where the name comes from. Peter Green was an iconic English guitarist with the band, but had some issues and left the band... Famous tracks - Oh Well and Albatross Then Christine McVie - keyboards and vocals, and Bob Welsh (Ebony Eyes) - guitar and vocals Then that broke up... Then this legendary version of the band got together when Mick recruited Buckingham-Nicks .... I think they just wanted Lindsey on guitar, but Stevie was made part of the deal. Lindsey Buckingham - guitar and vocals, Stevie Nicks - vocals. Rumours is an amazing album, but the self titled debut and Tusk are also.
The band was named by the founder of the band and since deceased Peter Green who was one bad ass Guitarist, go back through the really early stuff and listen to "Oh Well" and "Man Of The World" to name a couple and you will not be disappointed, after the rhythm section (Drum and Bass) Mick Fleetwood being the drummer and John McVie the Bassist, the latter being married to to keyboard player and singer songwriter Christie Perfect. May they rest in peace.
If you loved that... you will absolutely love this one. Fleetwood Mac - Gypsy Stevie Nicks one of the single best female vocalists I have ever heard. She makes you feel what love is like when her voice hits you. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mwgg1Pu6cNg.html
Maaaate another fantastic reaction👍 Being an Aussie myself, would love for you to do a reaction on The Little River Band, Lonesome Loser or Help is on it's way. Great reactions to the classic rock fuckin sensational. 👍
Try this one Mark - I'm so Afraid (Live 1980, Cleveland, OH) - great atmospheric track with Lyndsey B's guitar solo coming a very close second to David Gilmour. Epic Track from an Epic band.
There are two femaie live singer videos that are right up there with this. Eva Cassidy's "Over the Rainbow", and Sarah Vaughan's "MIsty" (Live in Sweden).
It just occurred to me, this may be the finest British/American collaboration in rock. I mean I guess you count the Police with Stewart Copeland or even Jimi Hendrix and the experience, but this is two and three, a more even makeup and certainly the vocals and lead guitar take up an equal space with the three Brits doing rhythm. The Mac had been going awhile but these two West Coast cats really shook up their sound and made them all timers.
Fleetwood Mac has a lot of great songs. Glad you are finding them. Love a good female vocalist. Need to check out Heart as well-Barracuda, Magic Man. Then if you want to see an AWESOME cover, watch Gretchen Wilson and Alice in Chains cover Barracuda live.
@@brainsqueezereactions Christine McVie was a member of Fleetwood Mac. She was married to John McVie, the base player of Fleetwood Mac. She was a writer, keyboard player, and singer of Fleetwood Mac.
Mark The album 'Rumours' by Fleetwood Mac is one of them SEMINAL ALBUMS were every single song on the album is a 10/10....The way you buzzed off "Dreams" you'll be exactly the same with every track on the album..!! Enjoy dude from a Pink Floyd fanatic love you and your reactions and specially the hilarious 😂 rambles you go on Your A Fuvkin Legend mate PS I was at the same Pink Floyd concert you reacted to with "Comfortably Numb" sitting in the balcony opposite the giant mirror ball which came down from the ceiling 💙💙💙
I once spoke to a sound recordist who worked on this album and he said that if you listen to it with good headphones you can hear when Stevie's sinuses are completely fucked with coke.
