She actually wrote that about the the guitar player standing next to her when they as a couple were about to join Fleetwood Mac...majority of their hits are about eachother..bitter sweet..their history together is fascinating to say the very least. The way he looks at her in this vid gives me chills...they spoke to eachother in the songs they wrote after breaking up...but still in a band together...to watch them on stage over the years has been addicting to watch...
Song was about her dad who was supporting her music career but she was struggling. He and she agreed that she would give it two more years then come home if it didn't work. That's why it's dedicated to her dad.
She wrote the song for the guy playing the guitar. They were in love and then they fell apart but stayed bandmates. They always held a flame for each other but she grew tired of waiting on him
To a 17 yr old guy in the mid 70s Stevie Nick's was a fantasy. voice , looks she had and still does have it all. She was a free spirit that so fit in the 1970s
Fashion Felonx I got to see them in concert in ‘78, 2nd row center, for Rumours tour- I have only had one concert come even close 40 years later... she deserved to be inducted into Hall of Fame twice
I love ALL things Stevie Nicks. "Landslide" is phenomenal. I also love "Gypsy". The Lindsey Buckingham guitar solo at the end of "Gypsy" is unparalleled!!
Fleetwood Mac (named after two of the original members, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, pronounced McVee) formed in Britain in 1967. Christine Perfect married John McVie in 1970 and became Christine McVie. The band really hit it big in the mid-1970s when Americans (boyfriend and girlfiend) Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks ("Landslide") joined. Fleetwood Mac has so many terrific songs, especially with Christine, Stevie and Lindsey switching off lead vocals among the various tracks. My favorite FM song is "Say You Love Me" with Christine singing lead. ... Some of their other big songs are "Dreams" and "Gold Dust Woman" by Stevie; "Don't Stop (Thinking About Tomorrow)" by Christine and Lindsey; "The Chain" by Lindsey, Stevie and Christine; "I Don't Want to Know" by Stevie and Lindsey; "Go Your Own Way" by Lindsey; and "You Make Loving Fun" by Christine. Fleetwood Mac was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, and Stevie Nicks was inducted as a solo artist into the Hall of Fame this past spring of 2019.
This was my sister and I's favorite song... she moved to California when she was 16 and I was 14. We were always so close and I flew to California many times to visit her. Sadly, she passed away suddenly 2 years ago... (her liver shut down). We loved the lyrics and melody to this song and anytime it came on the radio or MTV, we would call each other despite the 3 hour time difference. I am glad you are reacting to it, but as the same time it makes me sad.
@@marymargaretmoore9034 thank you. it was 2 years ago in June that I lost her. But when I hear this song I think of all the good memories we shared. I love watching JB's reactions... mostly Queen... but when pop up came up he was reacting this song... I had to jump on and watch. Had to pause for a second... He's only 3:41 into video and it's 6:23 now I can relax and watch JB's reaction. It looks like he likes it!! Happy 4th!!
@@marymargaretmoore9034 Thanks Mary... I also have medical issues but they are more on the lines of depression. Watching JB's face while watching Freddie really lifts me up. I watch his reactions over and over again... especially Bohemian Rhapsody. I watch him almost daily. Sad RU-vid took a lot of his videos down that I did not get to see his reactions to. I am mad. LOL
'You're not supposed to get comfortable. Let's continue to grow.' My friend.....you are SO much wiser than you give yourself credit for. You interpret lyrics very well. That's why I love your take on songs.
@@annmitchell4663 I am currently putting together my funeral CD list to be played and that copies of it will given out to my friends. I received my fatal diagnosis back on March 26th and this is one of them too. I'm cokecfjm songs that we grew up with and certain ones that have special meanings for me and some of my friends. My godson (who is my 2nd nephew) has a recording and music engineering degree. So he'll be putting it all together for me. ❤
Her voice is so unique. And that song is pretty emotionally heavy, like you know she's speaking from experience, like she's had many difficult times she had to make it through and she learned to see things differently. Things are always going to keep changing, you only get to The End when you're gone. It's people that are able to be flexible and adaptable that will get through it the best. If you try to resist it or tell yourself you cant move on if something changes, your mind will just hit a brick wall, you'll stop growing, start living in the past, feeling bitter that you've lost something. We should all learn not to be surprised when change happens, accept that it will and dont try to fight it.
Apparently, Stevie Nicks wrote this song in about an hour while in Colorado. She was a young, struggling musician & was contemplating giving up her dream of being a musician and moving back home with her parents to Arizona because she was broke. After writing this song, she got the call about joining Fleetwood Mac & the rest is history.
One of the most iconic voices in music... So many memories with this group and so fortunate to be growing up in the 60's and 70's when music was true music.
I buried my Mom on April 15, 1999 and this is the song I choose to play as she was lowered into the earth. I'm now 61 old and still miss her, but I'm forever grateful that I was blessed with her as my Mom. "I been 'fraid of changin', cause I built my life around you. But time makes you bolder, children get older, I'm getting older too." Very bittersweet. 💔
It was 1976. Tossing and turning, I couldn't sleep. My preteen ears hear this song for the first time at 1:33 AM. As I stare at my clock radio in awe of what I just heard, I wished that I could hear it again. That was the day that my love affair with Fleetwood Mac began. Which has intensified over the decades, thanks to stereo, MTV, concerts and quite frankly sheer individual talent.
She dedicated it to her Father later in life but in reality it was written about her break-up with Lindsay Buckingham (the guy playing guitar with her during this performance). He was older than her and she felt she had to grow beyond their relationship in order to find her own identity. Their songs ‘Go Your Own Way’, ‘Dreams’ and ‘Secondhand News’ are their back and forth at each other during their break-up.
LindsEy Buckingham is actually a year younger than Stevie Nicks. She wrote this song in 1974 while staying at a friend's house in Aspen. To make a little money for the two of them, Lindsey had gone out on the road with the Everly Brothers, and she accepted an invitation to visit Colorado while he was away. She was sitting in this wonderful house, looking out through some big windows at the mountains, and she could see her face in the reflection of a particular window, superimposed on a mountainside. She and Lindsey had been struggling to make it in the music business for several years (this was before they were invited to join Fleetwood Mac), and she was wondering if she should stick with it or quit and go back to school. They were quite poor at the time and had experienced a recent shattering blow when their record label, Polydor, released their album "Buckingham Nicks" and then failed to support it, despite some critical acclaim. She was working as a waitress and a housekeeper while he stayed home honing his skills as a guitarist (and producer). He was also working out her poems/demos to record as songs. So Landslide is about all of that. She imagined it all up on the mantle of the fireplace in that room. She wondered if she should just take it down and go home or keep climbing up the side of the mountain. Luckily for all of us, she decided to stick with Lindsey and their music. That is the love she refers to in the song.
Fleetwood Mac. Another favorite band. Lyrics, music, voices....tight, tight, tight. Getting old is tough. It's better than death I guess but it's tough. Watching your grandparents and then worse your parents approach death (especially if you are an only child like me) it's terrifying and heartbreaking.
this song and the lyrics have made me bawl for decades now, when i was a young kid and now decades later.. my favorite fleetwood mac song along with "sara"...
Fleetwood Mac are my FAVOURITE band of all time. Honestly, there isn't a song of theirs that I don't love. So many different incarnations of this band and each one superb in its own right. I hope you keep reacting to their songs. Stevie has some wonderful solo songs too. Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You is a really touching one of hers. Here's a few songs to check out by Fleetwood Mac (arranged roughly by era): Black Magic Woman, Future Games, Why, Dreams, Go Your Own Way, The Chain, Don't Stop, Songbird, Sara, Gypsy, Big Love, Seven Wonders, Little Lies, As Long As You Follow, Say Goodbye. A lot of this band's greatest songs came from the relationships within the group. In the Rumours era, 4 of the members were going through splits with each other... and they still had to face each other every day. The worst situation literally brought out their greatest album and it's rightfully titled considering the circumstances. The drama honestly never ended with this band (at least from the Buckingham/Nicks era). Stevie recently kicked Lindsey out of the band and he's been replaced with Neil Finn of Crowded House as vocalist.
Stevie Nicks dedicates this song to someone every time she plays it LIVE for past 40 years. Awesome song she wrote about the guitarist (Lindsey Buckingham) standing next to her.
There is a documentary on Fleetwood Mac, and what i discovered is that most of their songs are about their relationships within the band, which explains a lot when you listen to the lyrics.
Young man, I love your passion. Don’t ever lose that! It’s so heartwarming to see a young person connect with the songs of my youth. It gives me hope for my grandkids. This song resonates because it’s about the passage of time. It’s so important to become the kind of person who gives to others. It’s so rewarding to be generous and caring. God welcomes people with a good heart and follows his ways. Music is a gift. Every day is a gift. Make the most of it.
Thank you for this song l have always loved this group. Gorgeous songs. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham and.Christie McVeigh song , Daddy. A killer . You. Sir, have so much finess and elegance.
Have you seen Freddie Mercury's dropped video "Time waits for no one". It was dropped a couple of weeks ago. Completely stripped down to Freddie's vocals and accompanied by piano. One of Freddie's good friends found the lost footage, and released it. His Vocals are out of this world. It's like seeing and hearing him again for the first time. You will Love it.
This is from a concert called “The Dance”. It’s absolutely fantastic, the best! I’d love to see you review the entire thing! You should def see it whether you react or not. But I’d love a reaction to it from you! One of my fav bands and I def LOVE Stevie Nicks. Lead singer-✌️🤘🏼
She's also singing to Lindsey Buckingham. They had a tumultuous relationship for years. They were not together during this performance, but the love they still had for each other is so palatable.
What makes it even deeper is they wrote this song early in their career when they were young. The video is from when they were much older and could see the song from a different point of view.
Stevie Nicks is one of the very best singers of all! And Rumours is one of the best albums! When it first came out we all tried to play the grooves off of the vinyl! They weren't always on CDs!
No one sings this like Stevie, and Lindsey is the best on the backing guitar because he adds all of the emphasis in the right places. Song is very deep. I have followed them since the first time they joined the Fleetwoods back in the late 1960s. Mick played with a lot of people before getting to this group. When they all got together it was magic and a lot of drama.
Sometimes as time passes we change. Our values, our dreams, and our love can change. What we wanted when we were younger isn't always what we want when time passes. We change. Nothing stays the same, from childhood to our adulthood...not even our love.
Stevie Nicks is one of the best female singer / songwriters ever. Check out Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon", "Sara", "Gypsy", Gold Dust Woman""....oh! So many! Her solo work and other collaborations are incredible!
This is my top 3 songs of all time it got me through feeling alone and not good enough as a child, to being beat down physically and mentally in relationships to going through fighting 2 cancers at the same time. I was always scared to grow and get older because as I got older things got more harder with a lot of pain I was always getting knocked down from the Landslide but I'm strong and will fight to the end
It's amazing how even after all these years there is no one with a voice any where similar to hers. So unique and so beautiful. Glad I got to see her back in the day.
Silver springs.... from the same concert. Incredible emotion between Stevie and Lindsey, x-lovers. Monday Morning... is fantastic too... the guitar! Secondhand News... another classic!
Thanks for reacting to yhe great Stevie Nicks........awesome singer ..songwriter ........she was with Fleetwood Mac.....than she went solo......i love Stevie Nicks
Perfect choice for a song today I was sitting here thinking about when my wife was still alive she loved Stevie Nicks I saw that you were doing a reaction to it thank you
This song was recorded and released back in 1975 back when she and guitarist Lindsey Buckingham were a couple. They broke up the next year. Love Stevie Nicks.
The human voice, when raised in song, can be the most beautiful sound in the world. Stevie Nicks reminds me of that fact, as do Angelina Jordan, Freddie Mercury, Montserrat Caballe, Emmylou Harris, and so many other masters of the art. Thank you for your sincere reaction.
Please also check out the early Fleetwood Mac (before Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham). In the beginning they were an awesome blues band with Peter Green, Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer also with longtime players Mick Fleetwood (drums) and John McVie (bass). Christine McVie came in a bit later. Although this song is great and they were great in the 70's and 80's, I always preferred the original Fleetwood Mac.
Theres so many great songs by Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks, she is one of a kind with such a unique voice, see it was hard to stop playing the music to talk about it.. try Gold Dust Woman, Dreams, Go Your On Way off the Rumors album, see the chemistry between Stevie and her ex Lindsey Buckingham u can feel the connection.. herb solo career after Fleetwood been entertaingbus over 40 years never disappointed
Ya the speed at which time passes is terrifying and something you don’t really think about as a kid, hopefully. For me I loved my childhood in the 80’s and 90’s but now I’m 42 and have lost all my grandparents and most my aunts and uncles, so many pets, and a little over a year ago sadly my brother and all I can think about is wishing we could just go back to the time when we were all young and healthy. It’s definitely one of if not the most difficult thing in life.
Soooo happy you've gotten to Fleetwood, and Stevie, everyone in that group has been through some incredible life changes, listen to their music, lyrics, lots of life lessons, will love to watch you through this journey, perhaps you will identify with some of those life changes, many of us have, part of the reason we like Fleetwood, aside from also the great music. Enjoy, Peace
Some awesome Mac tracks: Go Your Own Way Don't Stop Gypsy Sara The Chain (anyone growing up in the UK watching Formula One instantly recognise the bass riff in the last section of the song) Seven Wonders Dreams Little Lies Everywhere Big Love There's more, just delve into them, they've made some ICONIC tracks, a good few of which have been covered. There's one track with NO LYRICS that almost everyone should instantly recognise, of course I'm talking about Albatross.
Stevie Nicks is who wrote and is singing this song the band Fleetwood Mac has a million great songs, but Stevie has her own solo career that is phenomenal! I think Goldustwoman live in Japan is the greatest live Fleetwood Mac song,or maybe Rhiannon. I dont know it's so hard to pick just one heck to just pick 10 would be difficult. You owe it to yourself to explore Stevie with and without Fleetwood Mac.
