Flexcut SlipStrop honing tool - Tool Talk Tuesday #7 AJG 

I love the Flexcut SlipStrop. I do linocut printing and use it for all of my tools. It's great for both the expensive gouges and the cheap ones. I happen to love the profile of some of the cheap Speedball gouges, but they come from the factory with an edge like a bread knife. A little work with a diamond file, a few fine grades of sandpaper, and finishing and maintaince with the SlipStrop and you have an excellent tool for a few dollars. Very good video too.

The wooden angled side is for deburring. The leather side is for STROPPING. ATB.

What angle do you place the blade on the round part of the strop (the first side you do sharpening on). Is the whole tool resting on the round thing or is it slightly elevated?

Hi, could this sharpen my Japanese PowerGrip gouges, as the shapes are different....?

How much pressure do you put on the gouge while on the curved side of the slipstrop?

Warm up the Slipstrop a little and the compound will load easier. About the same temp as your cup of coffee.....NO, don't dunk it! LOL
