Thanks a lot for the video! Had the issue and repaired it myself with your method, and it was an almost success! Almost because on the bottom row of the backlight, I have some kind of spotlight effect, as if one led out of every two was not on. I guess there is a connection that is not correctly soldered. Anyway, the Mac is now usable as it only affect the equivalent of the dock, so not so bad.
Is it a flexgate issue when I can only use it in SAFE MODE and connected to HDMI? I cannot boot my laptop in normal boot. After apple logo, my laptop turns into black screen with lines on top.

The issue can occur to the cable on the opposite side (used for camera and ambient light sensor), but it is quite rare. If both cables are affected, the display would need to be completely disassembled and the cable would need to be replaced from its root under the glass. The camera cable has much finer traces which prevent it from being able to be repaired using this method.
