I wish i could say that this was helpful but it wasn’t. The tape provided didnt hold up the template at all. It took ¼ roll of painters tape to hold the template on long enough to get the first bracket in. I had to have two nephews hold the thing up with the aid of the tape. What a disaster. It’s also great if your joists and studies are visible, but the previous owners of my place finished the garage interior, hiding the studs behind textured paint of all things. My fancy five sensor stud finder could find the joists on one side but not the other, where the garage rails are installed. I’d love to see an install video where the installer actually finds the anchor points on screen. Anyway- thanks for the video. E for effort.

Hey there! Installing a product like this is definitely easier with help. I would have preferred to have two extra people holding up the template for me. Having an unfinished garage definitely made it easier for me to locate the joists above, but I still used my stud finder to double check and confirm I correctly located them. I’m sorry to hear you had trouble finding your joists during your install. That can be frustrating! How did the product turn out at the end? Overall, are you happy with the functionality?

But what do you do if your joists AREN’T 24” on center?

The template allows you to position the rack anywhere on the ceiling. I had to locate joists in a few different areas before finding the right location for the ceiling rack

I wish i knew. The useless template allows for you to position joists anywhere on the cieling, but anchoring into drywall cieling isnt really the promise of this device. Especially if you want to move loads worry-free

@@dwayned.5238I’d agree, anchoring this product into drywall with secondary anchors is not the best option. I was able to move my template around until I found an area that worked for me.

For the love of god how do you adjust the cables? Just installed one of these and the axel side of the lift is about 3” lower than the pulley side!

I believe you can tighten/loosen the metal fish eye hook to make those adjustments.

Great installation video! Considering one for my garage but was hoping you could answer a question for me. If you don't have anything on the rack, how close to the ceiling can it be cranked up? Wanting to know the distance from the ceiling to the bottom of the rack. Thanks again for the video!

Hi Jeffrey, in the video you can see the first rack I installed and it’s sitting about 12” from the ceiling with nothing on it, but it still has some cable that can be reeled in. Safely, I would say 10” from the ceiling.
