@@LeslieDugger Nah, they're brilliant at mixing both. There's plenty of good musicians making high-quality music, but few good musicians as funny as these guys
They are funnier because they are so musically good. You don't notice how well they play but you do definitely laugh more. There's a riff Jermaine plays in the song Jenny. I can't imagine how he can do it and sing and do the facial thing at the same time.
Except it's not utter nonsense, it's a satiric meta-criticism on the hyperbolic and often baseless interpretations of art and music. This song pretends to be deep, which is then subverted by its apparent shallowness, thus adding even more depth than originally alluded.
It’s scary how good this song is, and it’s a sin that it hasn’t been put on an album, it’s also tragic how they don’t have like Netflix special or anything
Actually the dislikes are a metaphor for how sometimes people are unhappy with good things in life...oh sorry they were actually seagulls without thumbs.
My favorite of their newish songs, because Bret’s voice is beautiful and funny at the same time, Jemaine’s ridiculous funny commentary, and that piano solo ending. I hope they will someday record a studio version soon.
This song and the bus driver song are stuck in my head. Instead of a internal dialogue all I can hear is "I'm a Seagull yea yea yea, I'm a Seagull." Lol
I really hope that they put this song on an album or something. I've loved it from the moment I heard it last summer, and I've been waiting anxiously for them to release it ever since.
They just have to record this in good Quality. Live or not i don't care but this has to happen! It would be a historic tragedy if not. and "Hey Dad" as well.
if I could afford it I'd have gone to every show on the tour. Put these new songs and previously unrecorded songs on itunes already, even live versions since you don't like being in the studio, please!
Nabre Labre the live versions are always better than the studio versions anyway. Saw them in York on Saturday - it's one of the best things i've ever seen.
I usually dont like comedy songs with long speaking parts, but making fun of literary analysis will always take precedent over all of my convictions and preferences.
What did you try to hit them with?. Being seagulls you should have used something like a shotgun but I'm guessing you used a 22 single shot so you were obviously going to miss one of them at least!.
in my heart its pouring rain and eye am sinking. just a few feet below the surface eye can still make out your wavy face if eye could just reach you maybe eye could leave this place. all eye could hear was the roaring of the sea and the waves.
It seems some actual seagulls watched this video but their clumsy wings cannot accurately push the "like" button. This explains the twenty six "thumbs down" votes.
I love Flight of the Conchords... the third most famous cyber-punk-country comedy duo in the whole wide south island of New Zealand... The are second to none, other than the bango armless bob and Sherly, the sheep. By the way, I came here to comment I saw a guy singing this song to a girl (Circular Quay, Sydney, Australia) without Jermaine's commentary finishing the song with "I'm not a literally a piano playing seagull who also sings... I do want my freedom, even though I am not a piano playing seagull... lala laaaa. lala la..." My wife turns around and said "is he dumping this girl with such a lame song?"
SHame the live at London recording is as good a version as this. They cut it down and sped it up. It sounded rushed, too much adrenaline or something...
David von Doom ?... or Neil Diamond 's Jonathan Livingston Seagull ...? All brilliant and just go to prove that we all love seagulls Lalalalala lalalalalalalalalalaleeee ark ark etc x
heyyyyyynow yeah this is totally the same as experiencing the atmosphere of a live performance. I've attended 2 of their shows because of seeing uploads first.
?...I think Andrew must be joking, or didn't listen to the entire song maybe? Could be that simple.. "not quite sure what he means here",... "I have to re-evaluate, those aren't metaphors, is literally a seagull" ..." that likes to sometimes shit on people"
I know, right? They used to write such funny songs. And now it's these heavily convoluted metaphors and allegories about relationships. Stopped listening after a few minutes.
