In this video, we plan a simple IFR flight between two airports (KGON and KHFD) and fly it using VOR and GPS.

You should have picked the THUMB transition in LNM (it's a sub-menu under the RNAV approach) since that's where your approach starts :) Great short video, I'm curious about you flying that. I guess the RNAV approach is nothing for your beloved C152 though? ;)

Also remember in LNM to first choose+add your approach and then calculate the route - makes things easier since LNM then calculates to the transition waypoint.

?: why is thumb to wegot have 2500 minimums but the map shows 4200 minimum. shouldn't they be consistent?

Not a pilot, but I beleive the 42 number is basically for flying across the area, without caring about approaches or even landing. The approach tells you that the minimum is 2500, since you do have to go lower to land (it's how landing goes, in a lot of cases :D), and by that specific waypoint/vector it is safe to do so. 4200 is the general rule for the area, unless stated otherwise by charts or atc.

It is a tool for real life flying. You can use it for flight sims but DO NOT FILE any flight plans you create - that is ONLY for real life flying.

@@richavery66 because i see the conditions, they look very serious so i was wondering if i can use it.

@@BPPUK They are serious but you can use it for flight sim flight planning: just remember that it is a real life tool and filing a plan would transmit that plan to Flight Service! That being said, SkyVector is good for flight planning - although when I've used it, I've usually created a plan in SimBrief, entered the departure and arrival airports in SkyVector and copied over the waypoints from SimBrief. That's given me a good visualisation of the route with bearings and distances in SkyVector. However, I'm now using Little NavMap and Pilot2ATC for most of my planning.
