ILG in Delaware goes through the same ceilings with PHL over us. Nice to learn in a cirrus. Nice radio work. Way better than my student days. 😂. Good luck!
Quick tip: Flight levels begin only at 18,000 (FL180); below that it's just your altitude when checking in -- "Cirrus 93PA level at 6,500." Great job, keep it up.
nice trip; but as a simple FYI...(KSBY) is Salisbury-Ocean City Wicomico Regional Airport, East of that is an actual Ocean city airport, you may give a try (KOXB) Ocean City Municipal Airport..Non-Towered; but good training for student pilots
Hey how are u, first off amazing videos, lucky u to be able to do your PPL training in a SR20, I'm only purchasing one now. But I have my IFR chekcride scheduled for this month, but I was flying with a friend who owns a citation and I was doing radio calls, every time I checked in with a controller i would say "checking in or with u...." and he gave me a tip and I'd like to share it along. There's nothing wrong with using those phrases but he told me as follows. Just say Atlantic city approach N268BL 12 thousand or climbing out of 1.5 to 5.5, he said said it sounds more professional and they grant u alot more by sounding professional. I know while getting your PPL they teach u to talk that way, but just something to keep in mind if u want to.
Thanks for sharing this. I fly out of Boston, but vacation with family on the DelMarVa shore. I rented a plane this summer from Bay Land at KSBY to do a scenic flight along the shore. Beautiful new perspective on things. I'm glad your video captures the Salisbury controllers. I find it easier to understand New York TRACON. Something about how they deliver their instructions.... BTW, are you a PPL student? Well done if so! That's quite a flight to make low-time. Looking forward to more videos!
Thanks buddy! The SBY controllers sounded like they were on speakerphone that day 😂. Yes. I’m a student pilot, have my check ride in a few weeks. Have a few more flights videos I need to edit and post too!
You’re demonstrating excellent skills and ADM based on your stage of training. Excellent comms! Learning to fly in a HP TAA in busy airspace is challenging, but has big payoffs. Have one suggestion and one question for you. Suggestion: for frequency changes and transponder code changes, I’ve found that reaching for the center console on the P+ is more efficient than using the G1000 soft keys. You clearly know how to use that alternative method of interface, so perhaps try using the center console to see which one works best for you. Question: where did you pick up using phraseology for reporting altitudes below 18k feet as being a “flight level”? My experience suggests that altitudes below FL180 are reported in thousands of feet MSL, such as “six thousand five hundred” or “one two thousand five hundred.” Just curious if this is a regional northeast practice, or whether you’ve seen this somewhere in the AIM or Pilot/Controller Glossary. Keep posting up your progress. You’re way further along at this stage than I was about a year ago.
Thanks for the feedback. I have been trying to use the center panel more and more. My first introduction to the G1000 was in a C172 many years ago, so some of my muscle memory still goes to the knob near the screen. You’re right, below 18k are not flight levels, my terminology in this video was not correct. ATC knew what I meant, but not best practice! Always learning…! What region do you fly in?
@@foxair1 Always learning! I share that mantra! I’m based at KADS under the DFW Class Bravo. I had a pretty steep learning curve flying out of Addison, with all my training done in an SR-20 G6. But I’m so happy to have done it. Made the instrument rating easier.
