I'm currently 81 overall, yet have maxed out my steal and perimeter defense to 95 and 93. Defensive player builds trick you because they're not so great on offense and that really affects your overall rating. It's how good their defensive attributes are that matters. So I wouldn't be surprised if the guy maxed out his steal attribute.
Dude was a SG rebirth. HOF defensive stopper activates on PG thru SF. (overall don't matter with IQ) Most lockdowns are SF so their stopper badge don't affect PGs (only SG thru PF). 9:24 As someone who choose the defensive play build and is currently 81 overall in MyCareer, I can confirm I've maxed out my steal attribute to 95, maxed my perimeter defense attribute to 93, and this has resulted in my team (Sacramento) being 1st in steals and fast break conversions. I'm currently averaging 5.5 steals a game. Overall doesn't always mean shit, because defensive player builds will trick you into thinking they're not good.
What ive learned is that when they usually not a 85 but reasonably close (in this case a 79), most of the time the person with that overall grinded on the game for the vc, and getting to a 79 or higher without vc is hella difficult and they usually really good and have a whole lotta games played so don’t under estimate lower overalls before they school your ass
