So thankful to Flip and what he brought to a young boy(Myself 😊) and his Father(my Dad)growing up in the Bronx❤️. Relocated to Florida at age of 20 and it had everything to do with what I watched on the Walkers Cay Chronicles. Now I enjoy those same old shows with my son and push poling him in my Gheenoe along the same flats Flip use to push pole ❤️. We’ve decided to start our own show and hope we can bring the same joy and knowledge Flip brought to us.

I couldn’t wait every weekend to watch Walker‘s cay Chronicles. Was awesome I think better with watching Flip and Jose fish together. Legendary. 🙏🏼🤙🏼

Walkers cay chronicles was the real deal . Not a bunch of advertisements about crap from china . Real guys teaching people about fishing, adventures, and sharing information. When I fish in the keys it seems like a dream come true because I use to watch flip and jose fish there when I was a kid on Saturday morning sitting in front of my tv . I've been watching clips of old shows on RU-vid lately it's really been great to step back in time and revisit some of the original information I've ever learned about saltwater fishing.

He taught me fly fishing, well, he refined my ability. One of his trips that was a favorite was a fishing trip to Alaska. He took two 4 wt fly rods. Who would have that confidence in his ability but Flip. I own 6 fly outfits now a 9 6, 5 4 and 3. When I bought most , I was advised to get a heavier rod. I explained I wanted even lighter but such wasn't available. Flip is the only guide/ angler that can land a 300+ lb shark on bait caster for bass.

I LOVED Walker's Cay Chronicles back in the 90's!!! I would get up early and get the boat ready to go fishing on Saturday morning and then park my ass in front of the TV to watch Flip and his guests go forth and search for Reds, Snook and whatever else Florida has to offer. I couldn't get enough of that show. In my opinion, the only show that holds a candle to WCC is Reel Time Florida Sportsman and whatever that has become. Unless Flip makes it happen, there will never be another WCC.

Like you, I spent most Saturday mornings watching the show. I guess what I enjoyed most about it was the story telling. It wasnt just about editing to a bunch of caught fish; it was about telling the entire story that took place to catch a fish. Production companies now want action, screaming, yelling, and forgo the story. As far as I'm concerned, they've ruined the real understanding of what fishing is about and given unrealistic expectations to many.

Thanks for the interview. I stumbled upon this while looking for the white marlin episode where John hooks up with a blue marlin on fly. I hope Flip uploads it. As a kid, the Everglades tarpon episode was definitely my favorite. Thanks, Flip.

I could not afford to go to the places that he went on the show so for me it was about seeing places that I could not go. So I learned to fly fish for every species of fish in both fresh and salt water in Connecticut where I live. Most fly fisherman don’t know that fluke are readily caught on a Clouser minnow.

I believe that was the purpose of the show for a lot of people. Just a way to see different places and to give us goals if we ever won the lottery.

Even if flip didn't do a full blown production a weekly you tube channel would be great , so much to learn from flip and his views on things going on now , I don't think he's got a problem with sponsors and he could certainly get a lot of advertising and promote the things that he thinks need to be fixed in the glades and fish populations , break out a go pro and let flip just be flip ! ⚓️

We have discussed it and he recently made a RU-vid channel. I believe the hardest part is finding time, when being pulled in so many directions. In addition, it can be difficult for someone that has always been used to the quality of his shows to try and do something that is less than perfect. I hope to have a few more "fireside" discussions with him and get some things highlighted. All about finding the time.

The State of Connecticut cities and tows have a massive sprawl of apartment dwellings. I have been questioning our elected officials about the capacity of Sewage treatment facilities to accommodate the output from the population. Not one elected official in Connecticut has acknowledged that sewage pollution even exists. Every time it rains more than an inch we have a discharge of sewage into the Long Island Sound. At times, in the City of Norwalk, the harbor has a stench of sewage where I keep my boat. Unfortunately, I feel like I’m only one who notices.
@johntarr9292

Florida is behind the 8 ball on that exact situation. We have cities celebrating getting people off of septic systems and onto sewer, but these same cities dump up to 1 million gallons of nutrient rich "treated" sewer water into the river monthly. They won't upgrade the over-burdened system and continue to allow building. Hoping the new people we just elected will help, but time will tell.

What sits 15 miles from this interview? Is that human waste or New Hope sugar Refinery??
@johntarr9292
@johntarr9292 3 года назад
Not sure what you are talking about, unless it is the sewer leak in Titusville. That would be human waste from a broken sewer main, again.
