Flip the Frog: Fiddlesticks (1930) The World's Very First Sound Color Cartoon

Fiddlesticks was the first film in the Flip the Frog series. It was ground-breaking as the first complete sound cartoon to be photographed in two-strip Technicolor, and was also Ub Iwerks's first cartoon since he departed from Walt Disney's studio.The sound system was Powers Cinephone, the same system used for Disney's Steamboat Willie (1928).
The film was simultaneously released with King of Jazz, a musical revue, and was released with a cartoon depicting how Paul Whiteman, the music director of the film, "became the King of Jazz".

Now that’s what I’m talking about! This is in its original film reel quality with all the pops, scratches, hairs, twitching of the film strip which causes skipping, etc. Not any of this fancy-shmancy HD, 4K, 8K remastering! Just original form!

It's a great piece of history. However, that's not how people originally saw it. Most of the crackles are caused by the detoriation done by age.

MGM actually had nothing to do with this short along with “Flying Fists” “Little Orphan Wille” and “Puddle Pranks” the first MGM cartoon was “The Village Barber” (though MGM only distributed the short along with the other Ub Iwerks cartoons that MGM was involved with)

This cartoon is from 1930-31. Around the 1990's they already had everything we have today (EXECPT cellphones), the 90s was decades after this cartoon released.

He was never DMCA'd, flip the frog has 38 short episodes produced and was never contacted by Disney. Besides this color version was only screened in the UK, The US had it in black and white, so there's no way Walt could've distinguished it as his character. (Also, mice in clothes aren't copyrighted)

It wasn't, I uploaded from the Internet Archive and it was free from copyright. When Flip the Frog Blu-Ray set is about to be released soon, can you uploaded the upgraded version of this cartoon?

So yeah this one IS public domain, however I think the trademark of Flip the Frog is still owned by the family of Ub Iwerks, so you can't make an entire series about him and have his full name in the title

Actually it was renewed. Only Little Orphan Willie and Puddle Pranks were the ones not copyrighted.
