Thank you Charlotte, but I'm a Gen Ed teacher. Every year I have more and more students who present with a variety of learning opportunities. I always have children on the Autism spectrum (I know, that is no longer considered a thing, but to a teacher it makes a whole lot of sense!) in my class.... anywhere from 1 to 7 or 8. Students with ADD, ADHD, ODD, OCD, Dyslexia, etc are on my roster each year and they are a blessing. They know they are loved, appreciated and believed in and it helps kids with different learning strengths to understand and appreciate that we all have differences in how we learn and how we approach life.

Hi Stacie and welcome to the addiction of junk journaling! I believe this hobby started as a way to use repurposed and left over bits as a way to make journals used to write in, rather than purchasing a new journal. People used mail, magazines, leftover and scrap paper to make their own journals. As with any craft it’s grown and evolved and is easily adaptable to whatever purpose a crafter has or needs. I make these for two big reasons: I enjoy journaling but prefer to put my words in less visible or obvious spots. Rather than have what I write front and center on a writing page, I like to put it on a tag and tuck it in a pocket. Or I’ll use a journaling card or a flip so my writing isn’t the first thing I see when I flip to a page. The other main reason is simply that it’s fun! I love the thought process, creativity and options of playing with paper. How can I fold and bend and tear and add to it to make it pleasing to my eye? What other scraps and bits can I add to it to make it visually enjoyable yet still functional? That’s what junk journaling does for me. I hope that helps and I hope you enjoy the process!

@@staciecrews9625 absolutely not! Wendy from Wendy’s Journal Adventure does not currently use ink (though I believe she has in the past) so you can easily see some samples of uninked items. Some people use vintage photo (a little brown shade with a tinge of orange), some use lighter colors like antique linen and others user darker gray or black ink (like black soot). It’s all based on personal preference. I like the grungyness and depth of color in walnut stain ink, so that is my go-to. The best thing about this hobby is that there are no rules!
