Thanks for a great comprehensive review guys! However, there is something wrong with your RFID testing procedure; When you test the single card slot you only insert one edge of the card into the card rail, and the other end of the card is left dangling free, which is why you sometimes were able to scan it and sometimes you couldn't. The single card MUST be in the actual single card slot and it will be shielded from RFID scanning. Cards in all 3 card slots are shielded from RFID scanning. We hope this clears it up for your viewers.
Thank you for the comment! I pinned the comment so that it will always be at the top. To confirm, I removed the tape from my credit card and attempted to scan it, as stated above the 13.56mHz card did not trigger the scanner.
I'm a long time (SUPER HAPPY) Flipside owner. I'm actually expecting a pair of wallets to arrive today (a blue one and an orange one)! When a friend saw mine, and found out I was about to order a new one, he said, "get me one too!" His is the blue one. This video demos the Flipside 4, I have the 2x, and can't wait to get the this one in the mail today! Leatherwallets.org, thanks for being "stand up" and pinning that comment and posting a reply of your findings after further experimentation. My experience with this wallet has been AMAZING! So I was actually a bummed when I thought they were being a little misrepresented. I'm only buying the new one because after about three years of EXTREME abuse, I finally managed to brake the inside flap (totally my fault and in no was was it due to poor manufacturing). You've EARNED my "like" for this video. Thanks.
Out of all of the reviews I've seen for this wallet, this is the only review where someone thought to check how many cash bills will practically fit inside. I was wondering about that. Thanks for the review.
Awesome review. I'm a gal that doesn't like to carry a purse or a clutch, and I guess one would say I'm a wallet collector. I've searched high and low for a wallet that would feel comfortable in my front pocket or cargo pants, as well as have good RFID protection. Because of your review and the comment by Flipside Wallets.org, I bought one from their website. I have a feeling this is going to be my go-to EDC wallet.
I know this is an old video, but this is probably the most concise one in really putting the wallet to the test. The waterproof issue wouldn't be much of an issue as long as you know your wallet ISN'T waterproof. The holes for the add-on attachments make this very clear unless they redesign the whole thing to be completely sealable. It's good for what it is as long as you know that little nitpick when it comes to surviving the flood. It took me a while and looking through countless videos until I got to this one to make my decision on getting it or not.
Just bought this wallet and I love it! I appreciate you tool the time to throughly isolate and check out the RFID blocking in the front portion. I just keep an Id in that slot and cash in the clip so nothing to scan. Because of your video I'm glad to know my wallets limitations and I still like it. Great review keep it up man #thedredgod
@@BatheHerWellAndBringHerToMe what’s with the tag name??…..halarious and creepy..I don’t know if you should tell this guy we’re you live GCH…u might find yourself at the bottom of a well being told to lotion up 🧴 🦋…..LOL!!!
Whaaaaaaaat!! Trev’s my man this is the 2nd video I’ve watched and that just so happens to be my wallet!! I gotta tell you I’ve had this wallet+accessories for 4 years and I’m an extreme laborer! And by that I mean my job entails watching the same tattooed-up “I’m a bad ass, alpha male, mans man!” type personality throw up and give up and at least once every two weeks there’s a new face to re-place him. My job is physically demanding and this wallet is AMAZING! And I don’t even use the word “AMAZING” to describe date night with the wife. This wallet is….WHAAAT!!??? did U just say it’s not RFID protected????? Jesus well forget what I said earlier…seriously?! What a rip off! I should have known it was 2 good “to good to be true”…now that is a phrase I use to accurately describe “date night with my wife!”
Thanks for the question. It is too thick to fit in the slot. The 125khz card is twice as thick as the CC and you saw how I wasn't able to totally fit the CC in. No use in trying to fit the 125khz card.
LeatherWallets.org ah, that makes sense! Thanks for clarifying. It seems like that slot is RFID blocking but not 100% reliable. Being made for an ID I dont think its super important anyways but its nice they added the feature anyways. Great review!
Daaaaayumn that is a huge thick wallet. That company needs to hurry up and re-release their slimmer version called the STRATA sooner than their slated Jan 2019 date.
That was my concern too, but I took a chance anyway and bought the Artic White one. 7 or 8 years later I’m looking to finally replace it as years of use and drops and scuffs finally left it slightly off white. It has two hairline cracks on the sides of it that haven’t overall affected the quality or reliability of it. One of the pivot hinges of the inside compartment broke probably about 4 years ago, but it still holds up strong and reliably with just the other connected. These things are made very well. I wish I could post pictures of it. When people see it and I tell them how long I’ve had it they wouldn’t believe me if it wasn’t for how many surface battle scars it shows. People at first think it’s some sort of flip phone until they see me pull stuff out of it 🤣🤣🤣. I’m looking to finally get another one, but I wish they still made it in white.
That’s funny about the flip phone comment. It was one of the reasons I bought it thinking no one would want to steal a wallet that seemingly looks like a flip phone. I like the one hand operation and I’ve dropped it on the ground several times. The version I have is the Flipside 3 and the brochure that came with it said the single slot is not RFiD protected so I just keep my ID in it and keep my credit card(s) in between/sandwiched between the two black RFID blocking plates. Still working fine since 2013.
