I just build this one from scratch, beside being way heavier than expected (surely not the same foam as ft), it flew so well that I use it for fpv ! Thanks FT for keeping the hobby a child dream :)
I love when Austin comes in, the dog barks, and Bixler is totally calm as a cucumber. Thanks Peter and Josh! building this bad boy tonight, 5+ years later! I've built many FT planes (see the Sea Duck video on my channel, I like how it turned out), but I'm way too excited for this one
This by far is my favorite build so far. I would like to see a short Video that shows mistakes and how you overcame them. Like this one he did get burned by the Glue and you did state that you had said easily five times. I like how it was real and not some hype video. You guys do a lot of Good thank you.
@ 23:06 "tip" you can always throw old razor blades in the slot inside your bathroom medicine cabinet, that's what it's there for. Simply falls down In between the wall studs. Great build video btw. Would love to get one some day. 👍🤘
Started this build and 70% done. Will be fitting 3 blade props and some small mods. I think it will look cooler. Thanks for sharing. GL and best wishes.
Josh, Peter, I followed a lot of Larry Ross' threads on RCG. Great stuff and a helpful guy. If you hadn't heard, he is no longer with us unfortunately. Okay thumbs up to FT for your great support of the hobby!
great build Peter and Josh. I have already built one of Peter's cargo planes and it's my favorite to fly. Looks like I'll have to build the smaller version as well. Thanks again guys for the great build video. Removable nose, that brilliant. Cheers from Australia
I'm not really into rc planes but I really enjoy these videos and I am really tempted to buy one of your kits just because I stumbled onto your videos on youtube.
Thats the scam! They trick you into being interested in a fun new hobby, offer an accessible, reasonably priced store, and bam, you're suckered in. Soon enough you'll have spent a few hundred dollars and all for what?! Fun?! I know better than that. Im just fine with my pet rock thank you!
Dear Flite Test, I'm 12 and I have been in the rc hobby for about 2 years. my first aircraft was a blade mcx. I then got a mqx, a champ, and now have my first 3d 4ch plane a UMX Sbach 342 3d... After crashing and fixing i can now do hovers, knife-edges, flatspins and of course rolls, after practicing every day for 2 weeks. I would LOVE to see a mini FT 3d... I love building foam gliders and I think I'm ready for a plane, but I only fly in a small park so a mini is perfect. Thanks!!!
Hi, nice video. I hope you put a retaining screw in the Rudder Servo horn before flight as it did not have one fitted while you were building it. I had done the same once thinking I will fit it later, the horn came off the servo in flight, luckily it was the rudder on a 4 channel plane so no problem, if it had been on the elevator the plane would have been smashed up.
You could resharpen the razorblades. You won't need more than a quick touchup, a few swipes on a fine stone and maybe belt. You probably go trough a huge load of those things
What setup (motors, props, battery, esc and all that) would you guys recommend to get the best flight time out of this? I might build a slow moving fpv plane out of this. Fantastic design guys! Keep it up :)
Dear flite test, I've always been in to remote controlled planes. Lately it has been growing on me that i want start with one of yalls swappable series. I would like to start with a easy to fly plane and work my way up to the new VTOL yall will be releasing. I have had many years of watching your videos in aww and I would like that same experience that you have. I guess my point is what plane in your swappable series would a person that isn't a noob but not a expert either would you suggest to get. Sincerely, Charlie Tacker
Outstanding Mini! Great job Peter!! 👏👏👏👏 The ONE thing that always bugs me (NOT about your design!!), is WHY are most of these Planes STINGY with Spar strength?? 😳😧 I mean, the Spar is usually within a TINY fraction of the CoG... Extra weight THERE won't make any handling difference!! I always use MORE wood there, and simply bump up the power a little to compensate. 😉
One thing I do is use velcro to attach the receiver so it can easily be moved to another plane/helicopter. I use a hitec aurora 9 and the receivers are not cheap.
Josh why not put together a complete kit from motors to wiring harnesses and everything else it takes so someone like me can just buy with confidence ! Putting together complete list of all that's needed for all your designs could be easy by designing all of them to use the same motors, and esc so on and so forth!
Hmm. All you need to know is in the info.. How to build a powerpod: flitetest.com/articles/mighty-minis-power-pod-build There is motor setup, esc, prop size etc, there are also a video how to solder harness etc etc, You just have to look for it =) Flitetest has a great forum that can provide you with everything else.
mrpeter81 yes I am talking about a complete kit that will work on all planes that he is selling! The motor ,esc,,wiring harnesses , servos! A complete hardware kit to go with the planes and if you trash a plane instead of rebuilding the same one download a new set of planes and use the hardware kit on the new one!
I really want to build a 'normal' size version of this for FPV. I have two 2212's sitting here not being used (sunnysky 980kv, 1000g thrust with 10x4.7 prop). Do you think I could just scale up the plans to fit those motors or will I run into some issues?
The bigger scale of this its been arround for years on rcgroups and so... just look for Foamandtape "the twins" .. there is PDF plans arround also in several scales/sizes
oooo i was wondering when this would come out! im totally hoping my girlfriend is gonna get me this for christmas this year allong with the electronics! (due to owning 14+ planes im no longer allowed to buy my own lmao) this just means ill have a build video thatll make it easier!
How come you guys didn't remove one of the red wires from one of the ESC's is this not necessary??. If you're not using differential thrust, should both blades spin towards the inside or towards the outside?? or both the same direction??
One thing you guys can do is, try and put up christmas decorations using only RC planes helicopters and multicopter. No helping. Fly in ether FPV Or no FPV you decide. You can be all controlling different vehicles or the same vehicle you decide.
i just ordered this plane from the flite test store and cant wait for it to come. i was wondering if it could hold a can of mtn dew on the cargo bay without it affecting the flight of the plane too severely also mtn dew throwback is my favorite kind
A thought about the landing gear, particularly the nose gear as given in the video. If you operate at a field where guys typically taxi out... you're gonna be miserable with the castering nose wheel. It's not real hard to add a 5g servo, and mix it with the rudder for proper steering. This video could also *really* use a update, to show beginners the best way to thread the 25 amp ESC through the wing. Just say'n.
Hi Flitetest you speak of a bigger model for fpv are you working on one or are there plans somewhere to be found. Thanks for informative and great video's. Johann
+bmxkid1010 The more expensive transmitters can be programmed with custom mixes, so moving your throttle stick can be programmed to increase the throttle channel and the aux channel. They also have a differential, which means when you give a rudder command left, it increases the right motor speed a bit, and when you give right rudder, it increases left motor speed a bit to help you turn.
as in no rudder? I'm sure it depends on motors. from what I've seen is the plane has some pretty crazy differential, so I'm guessing it can if motors are powerful enough
Yes, no rudder. I am going to build this with one of my son's and I have some rc stuff we are going to attempt to repurpose. I will post if it works. If not, I will go get the big boy equipment. ☺
I maidened my Cargo Twin today. Awesome. I built Peters first design so not the Guinea but it flies like a brick on steroids. Thanx peter. If you want you can check out my channel and take a look.
I will print those plans a0 but i dont know which type , i mean there are two pages will they be in just one a0 paper or will they be printed in two a0 paper , thanks ?
Hi Flite Test. I've been watching you guys for a very long time like I was one of your first 1,000 subscribers. I was wondering if you guys could make a scratch built of another biplane that's a little more aerobatic that's the baby blender. I have a baby blender and a ft cruiser. And I really would like to see a sleek bipe.
+Hunter Dodgen Hey, you don't need to program anything! You just switch the order of the wires you connected which came out of your motor, and into you ESC. Works every time. Do reply if you see this and it works. Regards, From a fellow hobby-ist
