Flite Test - FT Mustang - Build 

I've been watching a ton of your videos and you finally gave me the confidence I needed to give a shot at repairing the icon a5 that I completely demolished in a crash where it was only held together by the servo wires, the main wing was ripped from the fuselage and torn the nose and completely tore the plane apart... you gave me the knowledge and power to attempt repairing this myself, and I actually was able to fix it used a popsicle stick to scrape away access glue and I used the Loctite go2 gel I highly recommend!! it remains flexible and has a super-strong bond, and remains light as long as you scrape away the excess... I would give it a shot it might just change the game, and make any repairs more of a stronger and permanent repair instead or just tape or just slight reinforcement, this glue I used really is some strong stuff,,, the plane is stronger and flies better than ever!! thank you for sharing the knowledge which gave me the confidence and power to finally after 4 years fix this plane so I can have some fun when the wind calms down a bit... I would love to see you make a SR 71 Blackbird. Either in a speed build kit or Maybe, David ( when he comes back) can make a hot wire build of it. You could have it as a twin prop, or a even cooler twin EDF. If you think it is cost effective. It would be an awesome build just to see how it would fly and look. I know all of you are very busy with other things. I just would really like to see if it could be done, and if anyone can do it... Flite Test could definitely do it! I love watching every video you guys put out, they are very informative and well done. Thank you so much for everything you guys do for the hobby! . Ok I stand corrected it has been done in a prop in slot or pusher set up in foam board. I have yet to see one made with twin props on the wings, or an EDF in foam... twin or otherwise. I think I could be wrong.

I scratch built this plane and had a blast, it was my first rc plane EVER 1st one i flew too, and its definitely touchy lol small movements. I did away with the rudder, and just had ailerons and elevators, i helped 2 friends also build the ft mini arrow and the spitfire. Both ready for maidens, thanks for the inspiration!

I've just finished the spitfire and was wondering if the spitfire wing will fit on the mustang fuselage not got much foam for the full build. Love what you are doing Josh and Josh and team. You guys are great! Thank you for doing what you do. You are a great inspiration. Keep doing what your doing because it's working, not just for me but because nine times out of ten, when I'm out at the field or at an event, lately people don't even ask, they just say, hey, that's an FT isn't it. Saves me a lot of time explaining and more time flying, so thank you.

I like the swappable warbird designs you guys have. Wondering if you was going to do a f4u corsair plane. I was thinking the wing can be done using the old fogey wing design...what do yall think? Would like to get a response on this one ☺

What about turning the Fuselage Upside Down to get that "Racer" look? Make the Intake/Scoop the Canopy and turn the Wings, Tail and Power Pod Upside Down. Keep the Wings High on the Fuselage and it makes the Tail closer to the New Canopy. Round Up out the Nose on the New Bottom that was the Top, so it don't look so Square. Just a Thought.

I guess the ones with a backwards B will become collector's items.

I was going to start with the Spitfire, but it looks like this is the one for me. Yes, I would still like a A6M Zero. But this one's a close second. :)

I know they are a little more complex, but what about an FT Autogyro. I know you guys have already done one, but it was based off of someone else's plans, I would like to see more of them, neat aircraft.

Hey this is just an idea that I think would be a cool build yall should try and make a quad or multicopter that is submersible like and underwater multicopter I think it would be pretty sweet and I know yall have a big imagination so I'm sure yall could do this I think its kind of different and out of the ordinary and I think people would definitely enjoy this FPV so yeah I really hope yall take this idea into consideration.

This might seem like a really stupid question, but here it is! Are the turtledecks optional? I have had 2 planes with turtledecks and they crease and RUIN the look.

I'm almost done with mine and I but a bomb drop door on the back of mine it's awesome, I tested it and it can hold/drop 150 little snappers ( the kind you throw on the ground), and I ordered some retracts from hobby king to put in it, I can't wait to get it flying! Anybody doing stuff similar to this tell me your ideas

I have a question... I built the swappable ft 22, and I'm wondering that when I crash it, if I can still salvage the electronics, motor, and servos, and put it into this (mustang) air frame. The motor that I have is 1450 KV vs the 1200 that this plane has, so it will have more power. I only have 2, 9 gram servos, but I can pick some more up... Is this something that is feasible?

I am thinking about putting on retractable landing on this plane. Would you think that this would be possible ? HK has some that are 29g, and 54x32x21 in size, with 3mm wire. Could this be tested or has been done ? Neal

Great video. I have a suggestion. Can you design a P-38 lightning? I realize it would be big to make it look correct with 2 power pods. It would probably also need wood dowel.

I have noticed as I'm building this airplane that it doesn't have the same wings as a regular p-51 mustang because in the full scale the first little bit of the wings protruding from the fuselage is receded. Is there a way I can make that on mine? Thank You.

Hi, I have a CG question. I've not flown my plane yet, I built mine in the UK and could only get heavier 5mm foam board. 4mm doesn't seem to be available here. The plane for that reason is tail heavy. I've mounted the battery as far forward as I can to balance it out, but still the CG seems to be about 1cm back from where you pointed out in the video. I'm assuming the CG should be tested whilst the plane has the battery in as if ready to fly and it is to be tested upside down like you did in the video? I'm worried to fly it until I know the CG is sufficient. I know that nose heavy is better than tail heavy, but it may be ever so slightly tail heavy still. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't get how I can get the aileron servos move opposite direction with the Y-splitter setup (3 channel setup). Anyone got any advice? If I mount the servos as shown in this video then both ailerons will move in the same direction. I will have to mount one of the servos in a less than optimal way in order to achieve the desired aileron movement.

Flitetest probably makes the best foamboard planes in the world but to make them better, it would have been nice if you put formers on the bottom of the plane to make them more round. It looks nice. Just Saying to make the 5 star rating into a 6 star looking plane.
