Just built one of these, and I must say, I am amazed at how well this plane flies! All the looks of a warbird, yet handles like a trainer! Stall tendencies are almost non-existent! My hats off the Dave and Flite Test for sharing this sweet Spit! It's a keeper! Next up: mini Corsair!

Thank you David. Finally had a chance to build and fly this thing today. By far the best scratch build I have flown so far. Suggested throws are alittle tame on the roll. I was worried but the vertical stab and rudder being so tiny but tracks so well at slow speeds and has great rudder athority ee.

So, I've watched this AWESOME video like 4300 times (Well, not THAT many), and you guys are always talking about suggestions. Might I suggest an FT Bf109 to go along with the Spitfire? If the suggestion has already been done, my apologies, otherwise, I think this would the most logical progression from this great build! Thanks for great vids! Keep them coming!

Hey guys salutations from Ford City PA,i got this kit from u guys about a year ago, i love this plane,really good strong construction, brilliant design,and i love how it flies,one thing i did to mine was, where the two skewers go through the fuse,i glued pieces of popsicle sticks to the outside holes of the fuse to to keep the skewers from ovaling out the foam thus keeping the holes true and tight, i love you guys show,oh one more thing i did was, i took a empty soda bottle,cut it and made a cock pit covering ,and it came out sweet thanks again guys.

That's awesome! Always warms my heart to see new pilots coming into the hobby and finding success. My granddaughters are just getting old enough to start flying if they want to and at a recent birthday, I met one of her friends who was trying to learn to fly with his dad. But dad didn't have any flight experience either so they had gone through a few airframes quickly. I told him about the swappables and Flitetest videos to hopefully get them on the right track. Good luck with yours!

Just received my Spitfire kit. Quality is amazing! We finished the POD and are presently watching this video again to make sure we're not missing anything. I'm just super-impressed at the quality of the cuts, etc. just a really good "kit." Only problem I had is that the paper/stock that comes in the kit for covering the top of the fuselage and the rear of the kit came ruined, bent, and unusable :( We had to go to the store and purchase more, as it was basically no good. Can't wait to get our first "plane" assembled and electronics installed and then get her in the air!!! It's gonna be much different than flying our multi-rotors, but that's kind of the point and being able to hand-build this plane just makes it that much cooler! Thanks Flite Test! I foresee MANY more builds like this in our future, as you offer SO MANY good ones ;) Stashman 😎

on some receivers you can just plug the other servo into some other channel, usually labeled in the manual that you got with your transmitter/receiver. If you didn't, you can usually find an online version for your transmitter/receiver. Just try "googling" a bunch of stuff about your receiver.

Josh, I have been attempting to fly a RC plane on and off for 30 years....never flew the same plane twice....the first successfull flight and landing was your FT Flyer....I love it, I have just built an Old Fogey but have not put it in the air yet.....What I would really love to see is a plan for a swapable simple plane that kind of resembles an airplane (my Flyer looks more like a kite) like a GWS pico stick F...3 ch single wing with a FOKKER look..thanks, I love your videos..

no, you still use all three wires. I was just saying that there were different ways of connecting the receiver with the transmitter whether it was 72mghz or 2.4 ghz. The third wire, (white/ yellow) is the signal wire.

@HiHoRC
@HiHoRC 11 лет назад
the "little black box" is the receiver. That's what you plug your servos into. And the way that you connect it, depends on what it is. If its 2.4 ghz, you need a bind plug, If it is 72 mhz, you need the same crystal in the receiver as in the transmitter (remote control) The order of the wires when you plug the servos in, when you hold the receiver right side up, going from left to right, is white- black- red. or, yellow, brown, red. - Hope this was helpful

A tipstall is when the end of the wing loses lift and so the wing drops suddenly. This usually causes the plane to go into a spin. It can be difficult to recover from that situation and if you don't have enough height, bloody impossible.
@eelcogg
@eelcogg 11 лет назад
For a fun flying experience, try between 50 to 75 watts of motor power per pound of all up weight. For a sport flyer you might want a bit more. A 3D plane will require even more, like 150 watts per pound. Best way to go about this is looking at what other people use in planes that fly well :)

How about a "Delta" or "Blended Lifting Body". The foam board that you use would be an interesting plane. With all controls internal. I started with the "Mr. Bones" 24 x 18. Blew that up to 48 x 36, powered by a OS Dbl BB 25, 9x6 prop. 1/4 in. square stock main building material. Full 4 channel. ail.& elv. mixed. nose gear, and throttle. Fixed 3 landing gear. 5 lbs w/ fuel. The plane is very smooth aerodynamically, very clean. High speed will make your eyes water, and will put most .40 sized planes to shame .At medium speeds, 50% power, it will do standing and lazy "8's" with ease almost within its own length. I have a .56 engine, so I have been thinking that a 96 x 48 would be huge.
