He hadn’t totally tired it out ,he knows what he’s doing .I have seen him rest many fish

One would say that "that guy" should actually measure the seconds fish has been out of the water in this case (it was under 30 seconds) and then apply to themselves.. It's not better to rest the fish for 5 minutes in the water and then take it out to mess about with it for 2 minutes or more! So far my record is 0 fish belly up and I had one or two out.
