A sudden blow of warm wind hits the back of your neck and you have a striking realization. - It's a trap! - you say, understanding the thought came too late. Before your bannermen can raise the flags, the horde of orcs have surrounded your army.
You have no choice but to produce the Rod of Lightnining you got from the Northern Giants when you helped them with their inconvenience with the fairies and to summon a thunderstorm from the skies. After the orcs shot a first volley of arrows, they panic and start fleeing in all directions, half of their numbers falling dead to electrocution. Your army is mostly safe - you sigh in relief - when you feel increasing pain in the belly area - an orc arrow traverses you...
You wake up to a cold morning, feeling a salty humidity in your lips. The remaining of your army is scattered across a white sanded beach. The distant cries of pain and stench of fresh blood indicates that you haven't been out for too long. - Good! - you say to no one specifically while getting up, just to have the unbelievable pain in your stomach make you sit back again. - Stand still, m'Lord. You are lucky you are not feasting with the gods right now - you see your general approaching with a scout by his side, a lad younger than you were the first time your father presented you with a training sword - And your luck only seems to grow: Doravan here just told me the Lich's camp is close to our current position. We could reach them by the 'morrow. - The men are to be prepared when the sun hits that cliff. Leave a small garrison to protect those who are too weak to fight. Tomorrow we rid this land from that filthy bag of bones! - You say as you get up once again, the pain only making you feel more alive than ever in your life.
@@fabioroppa3437 You walk for a short while speaking to the general, the gleaming sands and the gentle crash of the waves on the shore far more appreciated after your near death experience. Over the next dune, you notice a small hut standing in the sands, the waters of the sea seemingly parting around it, smoke billowing from the chimney. - Donovan reported no such hut, and he scouted this area not long ago my lord. This could be a trap? - The general says to you in a hushed tone, crouching low to the dune. Despite the pain in your stomach, you manage to match his level and ponder your position. You were just considering your options when the door to the hut opens and a silhouetted figure in the doorway beckons you over. - Well, our decision is made for us - You say to the general, standing with only a dull pain now.
This piece gives me goosebumps. Not only does it have a beautiful melody, it is also wonderfully articulated, the dynamics of the instruments are at an extremely high level. The composer knows his job!
I personally got reminded of it and have been listening to it for quite a while now. :P Also yes i know, you made that comment 2 years ago but i thought whatever. :)
@@actionfigurestory3347 oh yikes. Mb I only played this game back then at my friend's house and we always did hot-seat. But thanks for the context I always thought about getting it and playing the camping hes still telling me it's really good
This is by far one of my favorite compositions of all the time. It is perfect both for work and relaxation. The only problem I have with it is that ot lasts on several minutes. It should be at least hour long ❤That is actuallly strange why so many people didn't like this game. I agree that it is not perfectly balanced, but it gave so much joy. There are many great melodies on heroes 4 but this one obviously the best.
I like Heroes IV too. It has the most beautiful music of all parts (even if parts 2 + 3 also have beautiful pieces) and the stories of the campaigns are beautifully told - even if they are just text blends, they, together with the music, made an impression on me.
I habe never played any Heroes of Might and Magic, and I don't recall anyone in my family playing Heroes 4, yet it's always like I know this music since I'm a kid.
Certain Witcher melodies also use considerable chunks of Heroes 4 music as their base. I remember playing the Witcher event in Monster Hunter World, and the first cutscene I get where I play as Geralt was basically a Heroes 3 theme
Easily one of my favorite tracks from my 2nd favorite game in the HOMM series (my number one favorite being 2) I know people trash 4 for being unbalanced and very brain-dead AI but this was easily one of the games of my childhood that I spent hours being lost in, just everything felt right to me with 4. If the AI just hadn't been so brain dead and units were a little better balanced, I feel that would have been in the top 3 easily. Ah well, something to listen to and relax with when I'm stressed out or just want to fall asleep.
@@SteveClr I have it. How do you get it to run without stuttering windowed or at least at the original aspect ratio? I can't stand the widescreen stretch
@@Rizoof1 For me it worked "out of the box", I didn't have to do anything special to not have problems running it. I was thinking maybe you were running the game of of an old CD rom or something. Sorry, I couldn't help you. One thing I will say is that I am using one of the standard resolutions and playing the game with "black bars", i.e. not stretched to full screen.
@@Rizoof1 there are mods for it, there is a HD mod which may or may not be included in the equilibris which is how I always play it. Works with the GOG version, which is great since my CD somehow shattered into a million pieces in my old PC
