This section of the Kings River is located near Eureka Springs, and this video clip shows a little of the float from Rockhouse to Trigger Gap with a TOPO view of the float at the end.

It had been several years since we'd floated on the Kings River. Memorial Day weekend might not have been the best time for us to revisit with so many floaters out and about, but the water and weather conditions made for a perfect day none the less!
The river can be used with your own personal craft, and several outfitters can shuttle you if needed, or of course, you can rent canoes / kayaks or rafts from them too.
Our Outfitter of choice around here is Kings River Outfitters (KRO) - great and friendly folks who know the river well. KRO has a fantastic camping area there too should you feel like staying a while. We just so happened to (inadvertently) pick a ram-packed weekend to float. KRO had a festival weekend happening at the same time, so it was was very busy!
You'll most often find us floating the Buffalo & Caddo, in part because they are so much closer for us to get too. The Lower Buffalo is a personal favorite that we never tire of. Truth be told, I always feel a tad guilty floating anywhere else that where our favorite river people, Crockett's Canoe, put in anyway. The Kings River made for a refreshing change all the same today though!
Super Leeds had his (BIG) little brother Cosmo for floating company. My daughter Ashley and her boyfriend James were staying at a cabin nearby, and hence the float with them and Cosmo today.
KRO indicates that this float is 7.7 miles, but my GAIA app showed closer to 9, and I'd also forgotten to start it when we first pushed off. This was also a new section for us to float - in the past we'd put in higher up the river.
There are plenty of sand / gravel bars to pull over and hang out at, and the water levels today also made for a few great places for James to hop in and bobble on down with the current for a while. Rather him than me though, rivers everywhere in AR have another to go for me to want to full on jump in!
The water levels today meant we had little paddling to do even in the pools. Basically, it was a "sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride kind of day. Perfect!

We respect "Leave no Trace" principles, please do likewise. We adventure often, and Leeds is very well trained (and patient with me) with regard to climbs and scrambles. Know the limits of your dog, and your ability to handle it if you elect to take it.
