The so called experts clearly had t for a clue. They thought this stuff was African. Not only did they get the wrong continent but their estimate was a bit out too...!!!

If this lady is claiming DSS for her and her son ,,The max amp of saving she can have is 16,000... Because of this sale,This lady wouldn't be allowed to claim benefits so she's going to hav to pay her own rent, council tax,and everything else,,,is it right that if this lady is claiming DSS for her and her son that she looses her entitlement because of this sale

They really underestimate a lot of items, and then they have the gall to say the vendor has to pay a little bit of commission, a little bit , average commission is 20% for the buyer and seller , so that means the auctioneer gets approx 40% on sold items !!!!!!!
@richardharrold9736
@richardharrold9736 4 года назад
Actually, commission is usually 15% plus VAT, not sure if buyer's premium is the same. Best case, the auctioneer gets 30% of the sale price. Very few items go for this much - the vast majority are £20-200. The margins are what keep the lights on and bread on the table.

All these people in the comments slagging off the expert only shows your ignorance and that you know absolutely nothing about antiques either.

@oakleaves8370
@oakleaves8370 Год назад
@@WilsoMusic You got to be reasonable. These professional estimators can't know everything. It's not as if they estimate aboriginal artifacts every other day. It's a bit like saying someone following football should know everything about tennis because they are both sports.

Very embarrassing when the "professional" estimater has actual physical contact with the antiquities but has no idea what's he's looking at, but there were at least ten bidders, bidding incognito who knew what the object was through a catalogue picture.
@Oakleaf700
@Oakleaf700 6 лет назад
Auctioneers are not experts. Time out of mind specialist collectors ''know'' the market better than anyone else. I have bought very rare items from a tiny black and white photo that was put on the back of a catalogue as an ''afterthought''....it was a lot less than this though...but also a ''Flog it'' item, that sold for £3,300 plus 25% commission.

I have seen this before - possible on a different channel - but I do not think I made the following observations: 1. The boy looked utterly confused that the old rubbish made out of sticks could persuade some dude on the other side of the planet shell out thirty grand. I got out before the end. Did I hear that the boy got a brand new computer? Wow. In 5 years, the computer will be worthless. The artifacts will have improved in value. 2. Is the boy a "special" or just closeted by an over-protective mum? Was he overwhelmed by being on the telly or just annoyed at being spoken to like a baby or an in-patient of a mental institution? 3. I had to laugh at the alleged adults that were expressing disbelief at the progress of the bidding. Anyone would have rumbled that there was something about the artifacts prompting people from ALL OVER THE WORLD to chuck (on the face of it) stupid money at them. I am glad those items are now safe from people who cannot see what they are and what they represent with no need for a price tag.
