Are you STILL looking at things you shouldn’t be looking at? Seriously...STOP IT.
BUT I get it. I busted Monty for looking at other collars the other day.
The FLOLAB Privacy screen is one of the better privacy screen protectors I’ve tested from a build quality standpoint. BUT is it better protecting your screen from prying eyes?
…
I would say yes. BUT that depends.
FLOLAB has been awesome enough to give me a discount code. Make sure you use "MRE10" @ www.flolab.io
At MREH, Monty and I base our reviews on actual usage. We won’t be the most popular reviewers but we’re working on being the best. Our ultimate goal? Trying to find the Wagyu beef of privacy screen protectors.
So in the next few minutes, I’m going to show you the privacy angles on the FLOLAB, talk about the coverage, brightness and clarity loss as well as show you were it stacks up in terms of impact protection.
If you’ve been following this subseries, you’ll know that every privacy screen protector I’ve used to date has been a disappointment when it comes to impact.
The angle of black out is around 50 degrees which is 5 degrees better than the Zagg which means that you anything behind a 100 degrees is generally going to be blacked out. Now you might be thinking that a smaller angle would be better and it would be if you were using a laptop. Or a stationary iPad. BUT not for smartphones. It flickers to much...check out the video in the card if you need more info.
The FLOLAB will blackout from left to right and not top to bottom which is pretty standard for glass privacy screen protectors. The FLOLAB screen protector also doesn’t blackout fully at shallow angles though it is better than the Spigen product.
The FLOLAB privacy film extends slightly past the viewable area of your iPhone which translates to better protection for your device. It’s not a full 3D screen protector like the Moshi Ion glass BUT is better than 90% of the other screen protectors we’ve used.
When it comes to hardness, the FLOLAB was tougher than the Zagg and Spigen products as it didn’t show deep scratches at 7, and the brightness loss is around 28 percent which is a single percent higher than Spigen, Zagg and the 3M version. Which isn’t much.
For clarity, FLOLAB says their film has better clarity than others but a microscopic look at the maps application shows very little difference between the Moshi privacy screen and FLOLABs. As I said in previous videos, the clarity loss is either from a fine hatching OR a bunch of horizontal lines. FLOLAB has a fine hatch which is very noticeable when compared to a non-privacy screen protector.
BUT it’s better than some of the cheaper products such as the one from Ailun.
When it comes to protection, the FLOLAB Privacy screen protector broke at a height around 78 cm which is much higher than both the Spigen and Zagg products BUT still 30 cm shorter than the Standard FLOLAB NanoArmor which is still my goto glass screen protector.
Is this suppose to be normal? I don’t think so.
