Property owners are responsible for small scale flood control like this. California already has an extensive system of levees, dams, and other flood control measures.
Don’t think there isn’t country in Cali. All the weirdos are on the coast. Inland you will find the redneckest motherfuckers this side of Alabama. Where you think all the Okies we’re headed that escaped the dust bowl?
@@nk-dw2hmmore like $5000 in trucks at most lmfao. Definitely half a million Mille old farm trucks, also they are both the worst year and that ford def has a 5.4 liter which this is just about all those trucks are good for.
It wasn't for insurance and what it saying is fraude Id think when they did that they saved the city/county a lot of money so what's a truck to a million or 2 or more worth of damages
The Boswell Co. purposefully broke levees in order to protect their farm land. This caused a couple of towns to the south to flood. So you’re not too far off lol.
So the story behind this. Is the gentleman that released the truck. It was his truck. They didnt have a dump truck or any equipment that would get there.sooner. so instead of losing your ENTIRE farm that paid for the trucks and whatever else. I would do the same. Use my.truck to save the farm that than will pay for a new truck. Now i dont see how efficient this actually was. But there's another video after that shows that he did save 70% of his farm from flooding. Due to his used truck that he was gonna sell anyways.
Farmers know no one is coming to save the day. They’ve probably been working this land for generations. They know a family legacy is worth more than any truck. Although, I think I would have bought a cheap used truck….
This might be a good idea, if it wasn't for the: fuel engine oil Micro plastics paint flakes transmission fluid gear oil antifreeze or coolant lead-acid batteries, polluting the water.
it is not just a crop. it I'd that one, the guy next to him. one across the street. oh and houses, cattle, horses. yeah, it might be worth more than the pickup.
God bless those farmers. I pray their crops will be ok. Without farmers I know my family would not have the food we have today. God bless all farmers, you keep people fed!
@@juliadobosz545 it's ironic but anyway here goes, commenter was petitioning a supernatural being to look over crops. It's literally a text book example of spell casting, even by medieval standards.
Finish the entire statement with, ..."save millions of dollars creating more waste and litter to piss off civil engineers and cause more challenges for the construction crew including removal and disposal of obstacle and stressing any machinery plus incurring extra non typical machinery. Not to mention additional time and labor, all the while adding cost to the already outrageously over budgeted for the repair at hand...

Carfax don’t mean shit, just means the insurance companies paid for repairs, people can work on vehicles and not report. Just got to really look at the vehicles especially underneath, they tend to do shoddy work where you don’t care to look
It was a joke y'all 🤦🏼♀️ I just used Carfax cuz it's commonly known🤣🤣 my husband's my Carfax personally since he's the best mechanic I've ever known 😉
@@georgesmith2431 Probably didn't benefit from that but the amount of those fluids isn't much and I'm guessing that the flood water itself isn't clean. Flowing over farms and fields it washes the fertilizer on to that soil what makes more damage than a hundred of those trucks. There are a thousand ways how the water flow can be more damaging than 20 liters of oil and a tank of gas (if all of it even is dissolved).
Farmers trying to save their farm by sacrificing their trucks because the County and State won't help them, they try to prevent them from saving their farms.
Wonder how this ended! Would love to see an entire RU-vid video on this event: How it started, what actions were taken to manage the situation, how it ended and how it's going today 😊
Tulare Lake re emerged after many years in California. It was once the biggest fresh water lake west of the Mississippi. Turned to farmed land but controlled by man made levees. Mother nature took her land back 🙏
Little do you know, if he wouldn’t have done that, he could’ve lost millions of dollars in crops and damages. Instead he lost a $30k truck. $30k aint shit compared to millions. There are reasons people are rich, they know how to make money decisions.

I understand the fuel thing but most older vehicles like those in cali just have water in them with no antifreeze, spring water or distilled is usually in the cooling systems seeing as that part of cali don’t freeze
@@Waitingdatrecorddealyour an idiot if you think they stole them then took the time to fill the bed with dirt and then throw in the river to stop the flood
For those asking why they'd be willing to do this to their trucks willfully, it's because the value of what they're protecting by doing this with their trucks far exceeds the value of both trucks being totaled out as complete losses and insurance not being willing to replace or reimburse. Let that sink in. Sometimes, the sacrifice is nothing against what you would lose if you didn't take action.
Smarter and cheaper to get a loader and backfill it then create a man made steam to take the excess water elsewhere saving this problem from happening in the future
Not that it matters that's a terrible idea, won't work and infact will probably make it worse but guys driving trucks into flood waters probably don't know much about hydrodynamics
Hopefully, Ford and chevrolet will reach out to this smart man and give him a brand new truck each. Farmer saves his home and land. Ford and Chevy get free marketing with the trucks actually doing what they are built to do hard, reliable work.
@arbiter1 Yeah, but who says as long as there was no evidence it was on purpose, and they posted this video after they got their trucks, plenty of ways to scam insurance, hahah
Insurance lobbyists scored big when they scummed their way into making it required by law so they can charge you however much they please for no valid reason by threat of not being allowed to drive or imprisonment.
In 1968 ranchers used a few hundred wrecked cars to dam up Tulare Lake from flooding due to heavy rains. Those cars covered in dirt were still visible off Highway 41 until about 1985.

That waters gonna cleanse, nourish, and enrich your land. Your fault for building dumb and then pathetically trying to overcome it with even dumber solutions.
In the 1960s near Geneseo IL a river was washing away an embankment on a main line so the railroad went to their Silvis IL yard and picked out a bunch of old Freight cars and brought them up to the washout and shoved them in. They held until big Stones could be brought in to reinforce the shore and supposedly some are still visible to this day. Desperate times can call for desperate measures but if it works don't knock it
Crazy youre talking about rail cars. Which are heavy as hell and can act like a retaining wall. These two pickups have nothing to help them do anything in this case. Just a waste.
These are being used to stop floods from getting into what looks like an orchard. You damn well bet that I'll sacrifice a truck or two to save the crop.
Bro these farmers probably get these trucks for dumbass cheap. They're probably salvage title trucks. probably only used to farm so they're off road 80% of the time.
Benefits of having a farm truck. You can do the dumbest sh*t with your farm truck and never feel bad about it because that farm truck is held together with zipties, ducktape, super glue, WD-40, Lock-tite and a few dry wall screws along with various plumbing parts, random nuts and bolts you found lying around the shop and possibly some air ducting that you got on sale at home depot.
