I hope the rest of the world learns from this.... 1. There are still very good people in the world. 2. Respect the mustache. You guys have shown the world what it means to be caring, compassionate, humble and strong in one breath. Much love and respect to all of you from central Pennsylvania!!!
Yep. That how it used to be. It's how everyone was. We all did it. Respected the stache. Seriously though we all used to look out for each other and we didn't measure ourselves by what we had but what we could do for others.
Amazing adventure … great news that Jeremiah and Matt are mobile - must be a relief! Safe travels Mike and Ute **find a way to visit this wonderful family and pop back into a vid or two. Love the group pic - good memories ❤️
Found your channel by accident after the flooding started and have enjoyed the videos, haven't missed one yet. Almost sad to see Mike and Ute go but glad to see they're finally able to, some great people making this best of this hardship and doing what they could to help even picking up trash along the chain up area and helping the construction effort. Safe travels to them and keep putting that good karma into the world, I'll miss them in the future videos tho I'm sure they won't be strangers having gone thru such an epic adventure with you guys.
Hey guys, I've really enjoyed your daily posts on the crazy flooding. Im a Canadian from Alberta, now living in Zambia (central Africa), so I'm up to date on things! Thanks for sharing this with all of us!
That's cool! My husband (in Alberta ... now we r in BC, recent move) was working in Zambia for a year and loved it! Are u living in Zambia permanently?
@@deekobald9260 I've been here in Zambia for 3 years now. My wife, who is Zambian and I are planning on going to the UK for a few years, but will return to Zambia eventually! Great to hear your husband enjoyed Zambia too! Very welcoming and friendly people here. And as an ex Albertan, I seriously appreciate the warm weather here as well. I've lived for 18 months in Kenya before coming to Zambia and never regretted coming to Africa. 😃
@@mikeznel6048 sorry to hear that. My wife is taking a new job there for the next 3 years. We leave in June I think. Hopefully the situation in the UK is slightly better by then. I've heard mixed reports both good and bad...
People helping people, friendships for life! The true Canadian spirit! Safe travels to all and thank you once again for the fantastic coverage each day and also a big thank you to all the workers out there, stay safe everyone 👍🇨🇦
the old pipes will catch rocks and logs and slow the water down going over the deeper active pipeline slowing erosion. theres a train bridge near me that uses the same strategy they pushed the old bridge over just down stream of the new bridge and it created a pool that slows the water down massively
I tell ya boys, these fellas are the real deal. No BS. Sorry to See Mike and Ute go, but change is a constant in life and they’ve got to get back to their normal lives. Safe travels. Great videos! Keep ‘em coming. Cheers! Whipple
It's not a playground out there. That's risky business to stay back that long and help B.C hwys get back to mobile as fast and smooth as possible, together. It's was a selfless act we can all learn from and appreciate. Hope Kiewit sends ya a Xmas turkey and bottle of Crown... lololol hint .. hint...
I am in NB and look forward to these updates every night. Great job. Your reports keep me more in the loop then any other source. Stay safe and keep up the wonderful job.
Those cables running on the pipes are most likely corrosion cables I’ve got two crossing of my property here in Ontario and they come in once a year and check for corrosion. I would say you’ve got two new friends you’ve made and that’s what makes us Canadians🇨🇦🍺
If there was power connected to them at some point, then they might have been cathodic protection. They might have buried locating wire above the pipeline, or there might be communication cable along there as well.
All the Very Best to Mike and Ute, it's been so much fun and heart warming entertainment to have you both on the channel. 1st Class Canadians, just like your wonderful neighbours the last 3 weeks. Another great video today, thanks for posting !!
I really appreciate watching you guys an all that you've done to document your journey threw theses tough times. All the best to everyone, an safe travels. Have a Merry Christmas! Great group photo to!
Wow, what a great testament of the strength & resilience of the pipeline ! I could only image if there were rail cars full of oil tumbling into the river & seen how that would have turned out.
Back in the day we were allowed to open cut rivers and creeks. Those concrete strapped to the pipeline is called weights. Now a days we bore all River and creek crossings and are up to 10m’s to 50m’s below river bed. No worries anymore
All of you people are the Salt of the Earth. You kept up your positive outlook through this whole drama. Glad Mike and Utay get to return home, now. Good friendships have been formed.
That's quite a river diversion/erosion. Two-three metres!!! Very informative. Appreciate and enjoy your videos, the crew. Haven't missed one yet. Thank you.
Greetings from the south Okanagan. Thanks so much for the updates folks, they're much appreciated. Used to pass you all at least once a month in summer for work, sometimes more. It's amazing to me how fast they're getting some of the damage repaired. Stay well.
How wonderful. If only the rest of the world could conduct themselves like this. Make the best of a good situation. Now a days, everyone just barks out their "sounds good" ideals and points their fingers instead of seeing how good they really have. People are so messed up. I can't stand the world. I don't even want to go out into public anymore. It's not the planet itself, it's these terrible, ungrateful, selfish, self centered, idealistic know it all people who think they have an answer for it all. They have these grand ideas of how the world should work but not a one of them will live by the words they speak. They demand this and that then go and do the exact opposite of what they're telling everyone else they should be doing. Thanks for taking us along. These are real people. Instead of crying about everything, they simply make the best of the cards they're dealt. Those are strong, strong people.
Really found there channel after the floods hit subscribe and watch ever update they become part of my family they all are great people i live in WV this video really touch my heart i love the photo of you all together after the dinner bought tears to my eyes no life goes on and people got to leave but i feel that you all have gained new family meeting people after the flood but that shows theres good in everthing even the bad sure you will all stay in contact and you all have gained a lot of family on the internet to dont no you all just thur videos you post but hope you all will keep them coming even when everthing is back to normal sure would miss seeing you all much love from your new internet brother from WV good luck to you all
Yeah, going camping for a week, see you in a month, oops! Nice to follow up on what happened to the people stranded by this. Too bad that not everyone has made it out yet though. Thanks for keeping us in the loop.
Aah..the first signs of starting to get back to normal. Well, i'm staying subscribed and hoping for updates. Have enjoyed them so much that I stopped watching the National in favour of your 'on the ground' coverage' with fellow Cdns. All the best to Mike and Ute on their way home! Ste Bros really showed the way how to cover this weather fiasco in BC. Thanks for everything!
If these are decommissioned pipes why isn’t it mandatory for the companies to remove them on any river crossing. It just seems to be good housekeeping.
Yahashuwah is cleary in charge across b.c. and he's showing his power. Pay attention to the Almighty by obeying his holy word, is all I see. It's all Yahashuwahs land's.
They even mentioned in one clip they walked around and picked up all of the garbage on stretches of the highway they were stranded on. Mad props indeed!
You're all pretty great people, helping the work crews and bringing info to the outside world. Best of luck to you all; sorry to see Mike and Ute are leaving.
I like how you met some people along the way and help them and they help you and everyone's trying to get through the situation as best they can... sometimes being stranded can lead to some good things
You guys Are the best!! Thank you so much for the fantastic insights into your everyday life's. My sister lives in BC and I've visited lots , many times driving up and down the coquihalla visiting family in kamloops. Its so beautiful. Anyway stay safe and merry Christmas and the best new year you all deserve...... Love and best regards...... Veronica UK. X
I live in Ontario just north of Toronto. I hunt annually in Alberta, vacation at the Shuswap and have travelled the Coquihalla and I can't tell you how much I look forward to your posts. Informative and entertaining and I just want to thank you and wish all of you the best. And I will continue to follow going forward. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Mike and Ute.
You know what I don't get though, why isn't there anyone there at least putting down some Rip Rap to protect that pipe? More so why was there not a stitch of it during build???? All these videos all I see is river rock used.....Global won't report that though huh?
The river probably wasn't flowing in that exact area originally and it certainly didn't have that volume of water. The channel may be completely different now, and much deeper too. That would explain it.
Wow what fun real life and special times rural living close to the land and each other congrats. We live a similar life on the gulf islands respect to you all
Ok, got it. Pipelines were installed in a way that minimized costs, even across rivers. That's appropriate, if the actuaries who engineers consulted with at the time to assess future risk, determined... at the time... financial risk was minimal. Problem? Future risk assessment did not consider this recent type of event. I think we need to implement in law, hardening pipeline transit in areas of great risk and also, future planning/concern protocol. The cost is minimal if done at the time of pipeline construction.
That'll be a holiday/adventure that'll stick with Mike and Ute a lifetime. Plus they've made a few great friends that'll last there lifetime too. Sure being a great channel keeping up to date this past month on everything in that neighborhood. One of the best channels and Thanks.
SteBros have been wonderful at capturing & showing progress on massive repairs, so THANK YOU Mike, the RV couple & everyone that made this possible, including the wife & kids. Wondering: Shouldn't all old unused, decommissioned pipes & equipment be removed? How much decommissioned machinery & pipes are hidden from sight but still polluting?
Mike and Ute I am going to miss you . You were like one of the Family . Perhaps you can start a RU-vid Channel to give us updates , Name of the Channel can Be . " The further Adventures of Ute and Mike " .
