Knowing what I do about the current governor, I'm surprised this sort of negative news about Florida is even allowed to be reported by the local press. It appears to be so big and affecting so many people that there was no way to keep it out of the news.
he doesn’t. insurance companies cry of they don’t make at least a billion dollars in profit. they made $999,999,999? ceo gets fired and they say they didn’t met there “nessecery” margins
If I didn’t have a mortgage on my home I wouldn’t even carry insurance it’s such a nightmare with all the hassle of price hikes, clams pay outs and all these crazy requirements
When I purchased my home in Dec2018, my subdivision was in zone X. A few months later, FEMA re zoned my home to zone AE and because of that rezoning, my mortgage company requires that I have Flood insurance. A few of my neighbors had their zone of their homes amended from zone AE back to zone X. I’m going to check on how to have mine re zoned back to X as well.
Good on Vincent for his meticulous keeping of paperwork. Always have receipts. It is sad he had to involve the News before Citizens insurance would comply. While this 'could' have been a clerical error, if anyone is confused why insurance companies would do this, they are incentivized to deny or drop coverage (if possible) because it means they don't have to render services for coverage and keep the money paid up to that point.
Funny how the current governor of Florida has spent time travelling, also promoting his book and picking fights with people to appeal to MAGA, but not take the same effort and time to tackle this serious problem. He has had years to work on the problem, but is now shuffling papers, because this issue in Florida is being reported outside of Florida. I guess his whole focus is on the White House, and so is coasting until he can leave this mess for the next governor. Same for the investigation into the condo collapse. Since they claim that the insurance problem is caused by insurance fraud, the time the governor spends fighting Disney and trans, he could be cracking down on the insurance fraud by dishonest contractors who flock to Florida after a major hurricane. He is caught between the contractors, many of whom are Republicans, and the insurance industry who have likely contributed to his earlier campaigns. .
I'm sorry, this is florda, they didn't have mandatory flood insurance before ??????/ I had a house a half mile from a dried up creek bed in Ohio and i was required to have flood isurance. What they really need is a stupidity clause for living in a state with annual hurricanes.
If you own a home in Florida , which is not at least ten feet above sea level . Plus maybe even a raised structure the closer you get to the water. Then you need flood insurance. They are protecting the home owner and the area . Where I live , we have mandated vehicle insurance and two year inspection.
I never said he did not have flood insurance. I was making a general statement that having homeowners insurance does not cover water damage. His problem may be that the insurance company wants him to buy his flood insurance with them for whatever reason . ✌️👍
