Floor kicked of this show and blows everyone away, with Vilja Lied. Most of the Netherlands didn't know her, but after this stunning performance they did. Floor had classical training for about a year. I love this woman voice❤💥💯
They all looked so stunned because all they knew about her was that she was the singer from a heavy metal band. She then sung this in German and blew them away. There is nothing this woman can’t sing.
Great reaction! This is from the very first show of that season and was the very first song. The other singers had no idea what Floor could do. They just knew her as a metal singer with all of the stereotypes that went with that perception of her. Note that metal music is not very popular in the Netherlands so it is understandable why they would not know her well. Then she stepped out on the stage and sang this beautiful aria from the operatta The Merry Widow for Henk (his mother, an opera singer , used to sing it for him and his father) and just blew them all away. That is why they are so stunned, she just subverted all their expectations. Definitely go watch the version from FloorOpTv which captures the before and after banter translated into English in the CC.
Yup, the Floor op TV channel has a "Beste Zangers 2019" playlist for convenience. The subbed versions with the before/after talk add so much tt experience. Warmly recommended (as I tried several times). Cheers from Amsterdam!
Tim Akkerman, the one with the longer curls was the only one in that show who knew Floor from her former bands and had a guess what would happen but you can see even he wasn't prepared.
Metal is incredibly popular in the Netherlands. Since the early 80s. 50% of my classroom were wearing metal shirts. The radio refuses to play them though. Something entirely different. *uck the MSM and crap radio.

Dynamo Metalfest is held at 10,000 seat Ijssportcentrum according to their website. Often what is popular with young people doesn't represent what is popular with the whole population.
In 1999 she began studying at the Rock Academy in Tilburg and took singing lessons at the Fontys Conservatorium (both now part of the Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten of the private university operator Fontys).In 2004 she successfully completed her studies at the Rock Academy and began studying musicals and operas at the Conservatory. This was for Henk. His mother use to sing this to him as a child. What's also cool is she's Dutch but she chose to sing this in German for him. As far as the song goes I think it's about a young boy who falls in love with a wood fairy and eventually they make out but then she vanishes? Leaving him a little heart broken. I'm sure someone out there knows the full story but that's as far as I know. Beste Zangers is a cool concept. You get these famous or up coming singer's they all hangout and someone takes a turn on the hot seat while each of them sing them a song. Now this must take them some research but what they sing to them could be There own song original, a cover song from a band they may love or even a song from a past memory as a child like this one for Henk. This was Floor's introduction to me, the people in the show and the rest of the Netherlands. I, and the rest were blown away. I became instantly a fan for live. Unbelievable talent.

After she graduated from the Rock Academy in 2003 she later attended the Conservatory for 2 years (1 year opera and 1 year music theatre) while performing with After Forever.

Hi nice reaction, you know why we call Floor the Goddess of Valkyrie, because of her versatility, the order in which Floor to After Forever started performing and as you pointed out correctly she was 16, after After Forever broke up she started her band ReVamp and in 2012 Nightwish invited Floor to collaborate after how Anette got pregnant and got sick, they had to finish the tour in America, best regards
Floor - After Forever - Rock school for training [with musical theater and opera courses] whil still in After forever along with Areyon and Arjen's Star One, Revamp until the collapse and then Nightwish and Revamp revived. While revamp ended Floor brought in some ongoing projects Northward as the main one. With the success of her appearance on this show her solo career has started along with Nightwish.
I love seeing people react to this! It is mindblowing! Floor has some classical training as you can very easily see but I believe it was not her main focus. The language here is German.

You gotta do winner from Beste Zangers because it’s so inspirational. also and it’s about Tim Akkermans brother who is in a wheelchair and his attitude towards life. I’m in a wheelchair also and felt this song so much in my soul I was sobbing the first time I saw it on RU-vid.
I have been listening to Floor since February 2020, and the more I hear her the more I love her. The first time I heard her singing GLS at Wacken, I was awestruck, the greatest voice had ever heard. She can sing anything, any style, genre to genre, and still I am in awe. After Forever was her first band, then ReVamp, then Nightwish, for a while she was ReVamp and Nightwish at the same time. She ended ReVamp to focus on Nightwish. Floor studied officially for a year, opera, but she has taken all sorts of musical training along the way, and then actually taught differing musical styles as a vocal coach. She considers herself a vocal nerd and is always training her voice on making different sounds. She is the most humble and sweetest person ever, not a bit of diva in her.

Floor went to a music school and they had 1 year of classical training included. This song was from a German Opera. She crushed every song in every language in both Beste Zangers and the German version Sing Meinen Song. One singer from the German show said she sang his song the way he meant it to sound.

At the age of 16 she started her career (initially) just as the background singer from the Dutch metal band ‘After Forever’ in 1997, but real soon she took over the lead until early 2009 and the band fell apart. Floor had "only" about 1y clasical singing course during her Rock academy studies... This is Part1 of the BesteZangers 2019, the wery first song of that year, Henk Poort was the person in "front position" all others sang for him. This is when they first met, and they continue doing great music together since then!

Hard to find but there was some posters putting up full episodes with subtitles (RU-vid, Vimeo if memory serves etc.) back in the day. Loved watching the introductions and then the songs and the comments afterwards. This and the german version of this type of show (there Floor sang all songs in German and did some amazing songs also).

Floor studied from 1999 til 2003 at the Rock Academy in Tilburg. After the Rock Academy Edward Hoepelman from the conservatory became and still is her teacher (he's a big name). She still takes singing lessons at least once a month. Floor herself has also been teaching after she graduated in 2003 at the Metal Factory in Eindhoven. While she was studying at the Rock Academy she was also already taking lessons at the Music Theater Academy (Academie voor Muziek- en Musicaltheater) in Tilburg . In 2005 she did 1 more year of opera as a part-time study. So yes, she is a trained singer.

Floor sings in the original language, German. The aria Vilja Lied (Vilja's song) tells about a young hunter who meets a mythical forest fairy, the Maid of the Woods, in the mountains. Her name is Vilja and she enchants the hunter. The hunter falls passionately in love and begs her to be his bride, but at the end Vilja just disappears.
Just think that non of these guys on that sofa has heard Floor, except Tim the white guy usually having a Ramones shirt or something. This was 1st episode of Beste Zangers and Floor started the show with that piece.

Vilja-Lied usually gets in sung in German 🇩🇪 Floor sang this for Onkel Henk look at how he enjoys it....his smile says it all This is what Henk said afterwards: Dit song Floor sang perfectly, with a bit metal sauce on top 🥰 She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish. Nightwish did an amazing Nightwish Cruise aboard the Baltic Princess. The first night they did a full Nightwish show to a packed ship. But the next day, Marko and Troy put on a super-fun and funny acoustic show where they did a lot of covers etc. But as that show went along, Kai Hahto joined in on acoustic percussion and then, Floor finally joined in.
