It's a beautiful thing that Henk learned this gritty rock vocal just for Floor. He had never tried it before.

The band was playing nightwish's version of Phantom. That explains the heavy guitars and rock/metal arrangement. You should definitely watch all her performances on Beste zangers. Floors shows her versatility and talent by making other songs her own. Btw the people on the couch are all singers and to see them impressed just shows how amazing Floor is.

Henks one condition to do this was that he got to redo it in concert with Nightwish...Floor is such a vocal gift to this world

A little update (found it today, jan, 19th, 2020): here on youtube, Floor just thanked her fans for winning the dutch "Popprijs 2019". Well deserved, I think!

Impressed, the band and vocals were incredible. At first I was expecting just another version. Floor Jansen blew me away but Henk Poort crushed it with that intense clarity and pronunciation gave me goose bumps as well, then the throaty operatic vocals! WOW! Talk about taking music to a whole other level.

In my humble opinion, Floor is the greatest singer I have ever heard. I know that's a bold statement but here are very few who can tackle any genre and own it as she does. Regardless of the style she sings, she kills it. She can growl, she can hit crazy high notes and anything else in between and do it all extremely well. And besides the fact she is an amazing singer, her stage performance is spectacular.

I was extremely impressed with both singers. This video was fantastic. Thank you for the post. I saw a reaction elsewhere where the reactor did a comparison between Poort's version of Sound of Silence compared with that of David Draiman's version. I was impressed with both versions but if I was to split hairs I would have to chose David's version. I was surprised to hear Poort using rasp in this song because in SoS he refused to use rasp as David had done. He said he was afraid of damaging his vocal chords. Cheers, Steve

"Beste Zangers" is actually a very impressive pun. Literally translated, it would be "(the) Best Singers" -- but "Beste ...." is the Dutch equivalent of "Dear ..." at the start of a letter. Which is apt, because the show's format is a group of singers taking turns getting serenaded by the others one at a time.

Henk poort (who was the phantom in dutch opera for years) would only do this with the nightwish arrangement and also the opportunity to perform with nightwish on tour. Great reaction as always 🤘🤘

My wife and I saw Phantom at Her Majesty's Theatre in London. It was simply brilliant. Absolutely loved it. So So good

Henk Poort played the Phantom for a couple of years back in the 90's in the Dutch version of the show, there in the Netherlands. As mentioned else where, the arrangement used for the song was the one adapted by NW, nearly two decades ago. Floor is doing 10, one woman shows in Amsterdam later on this month and into early February. All sold out hours after tickets went on sale. As was the now, two back to back concerts that Nightwish is performing there this upcoming 23rd & 24th of November at 17,00 capacity, Ziggo Dome.. For her show she will be performing a selection of her own non-NW songs. As well as those she sang on Beste Zangers. With the same BZ band backing her. If not having any other comments, Henk will be performing 'Phantom of the Opera' with her, as her special guest for most, if not all of those performances. He will also likely be doing the same for those two NW shows in November..

Floor did 7 or 8 songs on this show, each of them worthy of their own review/reaction! The whole format of the show is far better than what we are used to in this country (USA), something that I hope we see in the future! Basically, seven professional musicians who perform each others music, demonstrating homage to the creator and demonstrating their own diversity. Cheers for a happy, healthy, and productive 2020!

Ahhhh!! I'm so envious of you guys getting to watch that for the first time. From the same show Floor sings a song called 'Winner', you just can't let that fly under your radar. It is insanely good! (Every song floor does on that show and everywhere else is insanely good) Just a suggestion.

Henk was the Phantom for many years so this role is familiar territory. He is scheduled to join Nightwish in the Netherlands to preform this song with the band this year. Looking forward to the videos since I don't think Marko will preform it on the other dates.

The First Time I saw Best Singers (Beste Zangers) was the 3 sisters "O'G3ne that won The Voice of Holland in 2014 they sang 2 phenominal songs that I absolutely loved "Clown" and "Sing"

Floor Jansen has a fantastic voice, amazing range and power. She is much more rock chick and grisly with Nightwish. I’m not a fan of Phantom of the opera but that rocked. Thanks for sharing, love you guys, keep them coming. 👏 🤟😊

Great reaction guys, beste zangers is a show were a bunch of professional singers sings songs from each other or a song that means a lot to them. Each a episode is in the central coach and The others sing to him or her. It is no competition more a tribute. The last episode all singers do two duets with each other. The episode that Floor is in the hotseat is very interresting, Henk is doing Sound Of Silence, the Disturbed version For Floor!

Floor always steals the show, she has got to be THE best singer in the world (second only to Freddie). For those wondering though, Henk was the Phantom in the Dutch production in the 90s and he is incredible.

This epic suite is mostly the conclusion of the show, and all those fans (75,000 or more?) stand in anticipation of the one high note at the end. You should check also Nightwish's version of this song from End of an Era tour Helsinki 2005 where Marco & Tarja sign this. This arrangement based on Nightwish's arrangement of this song, and Henk Poort will sing this with Floor and Nightwish in their Netherlands concert later this year. It's going to be superb!

if you think you like this you just MUST see and hear Henk Poort's version of “Sound of Silence” !!! . he does this as an opera singer in a metal version For Floor Jansen ( from nachtwish) because she is part of a metal band and sings. and made it into an ITunes list with this version. Henk Poort (1956) is a Dutch opera and musical singer and a baritone. and was THE Dutch ghost of the Phantom of the Opera from 1993 In 2019 Poort participated in Best Singers, where he took first place in the Dutch iTunes list with his version of “Sound of Silence”.

The music is from the Marcel Fisser Band from Amsterdam. Her duet partner is Dutch Tenor Henk Poort who Floor idolized from her teen years. He's the reason Floor took opera lessons. She can sing any genre.
