True, I met her once for an interview. Such a modest, kind and down to earth person. Always nice, kind and tries to make your day better, because doing that makes her day better. It's so simple and honest.
And he has performed in it many times. He is principally an opera singer, but musicals provide the kind of steady income that operatic performances don't, so he does those too, as long as they fit his classical voice.
If you do Nighwish related PoO, better do Nightwish - Phantom of the Opera (End of Era tour) with Tarja. The beste zangers one is nice, but the Tarja/Marko version rocks.
I'm glad you picked the version with the talking included. The interaction and stories make me want to watch the whole season for the zillionth time. Such a positive and interesting mix of personalities. It really feels like you know them at the end of the season.
This song is from the Austrian composer Franz Lehar's operetta "Die lustige witwe/The merry widow". The others haven't seen her singing before and she totally killed it. And yes, Floor is very humble and down to earth person. But of course she knows exactly who she is and what she's capable of do.
Tim knew her before the show. He heard her sing like this for the first time on this show. Jan knew her as well but is from another music scene, he's a singer of dutch music like Samantha.
This was the first performance of the first show in the season. All the other participants are successful recording artists, and you can see the shock on their faces when they hear Floor for the first time.
What a great memories watching this Show from the US. When in my RU-vid Feed recommend this... Before C19 and the world wide lockdown! Waiting every Saturday to see her Performances. Floor Jansen Queen of Metal 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Whole Netherlands was in shock. Nobody (except the metal scene) knew her. Well, that's changed! Her following solo tour sold out in 10 seconds and Nightwish planned extra concerts in Amsterdam.
Hey guys. Just in case you didn't know, Floor is dropping another cover this Saturday. Can't wait to see what it is and what she does with it after her last cover of Let it Go.😁🤘
You could see the memories coming back in Henk's face near the end as he nearly started crying (no wonder if this is the song his mother sang to him as a child). No knew Floor before other than the "metal chic with the tats", they know who she is NOW. This set the tone as she week in and week out blew away the TV audience and even her own fans who were stunned by each presentation. Different genres in different languages, no problem save my seat......such a warm humble and empathic Queen. There is not a DIVA bone in her body and Henk went from childhood idol to a real friend after this show.
She is comfortable within her own skin and she knows who she is. She saved Nightwish and Nightwish saved her. I can't wait until Saturday when she drops her next cover. Let it go was amazing. Peace out guys.😘😃😃😃
This was the first song of the season, and the rest of the singers on the show had little to no idea of who Floor was....they got educated REALLY quickly, lol.
think about the circumstances. here's a World Renowned lead singer of one of the Best Bands of All Time. she's virtually Unknown in Her Own Country, and she's on a show with one of her adolescent idols. she's the First Performer of the New Season, and she comes out the gate with This. a song His Mother the opera singer used to sing, and she moves him to tears. Boom.
That is why she is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal... She can sing anything.. Hail Floor Don't think you have done " Oh mio babbino caro ". It's a beautiful aria. Peace out
Man, can you imagine the first song of the first episode, singing to the legend Henk and picking an aria from his childhood? She comes out, 6'1 Valkyrie dressed for the metal stage and delivers that performance. No pressure, lol. I can't imagine the butterflies for those who have to follow.
Re: Floor “she knows who she is” - so true! Sweet & kind person, talented singer who won’t be pigeonholed - metal is her background, enjoys a growl, operatic mastery is her skill, pop / rock - she’s done that too!
Somebody suddenly realized that the barr was set pretty damn higher than usual - their faces were priceless. And don't be mistaken, Floor has been writing music for years, starting back from her start in After Forever and later in ReVamp and Northward - and she has the education and the papers right also. Giving Vilja Lied a little metal touch is done with left hand while drinking a beer at the same time. It is actually one of reasons why Nightwish are so phenomenal - they all contributes to the raw material Tuomas creates - a six way effort. 👍🤘🤘
And of course her German was close to perfect here. Sounds very natural to my German ear. Which insanely impressive since she probably doesn't know the language and is just going by phonetics. (German and Dutch are not that far apart though)
@@simonpgrootes9101 Ah okay, I didn't know that. Thanks for the insights. Anyway, Dutch is really close to the German dialect "Plattdeutsch" as far as I know, which I myself cannot understand well (but some Swiss can, as I was told). However, while I can't vocally understand or speak Dutch, I can somehow make sense of the written form, which shows how close both languages might actually be. To me, Dutch sounds like a weird mix of German, English and maybe some French and randoms vowels. :-)
Beautiful song, perfectly executed, beautiful reaction. Isn't it amazing that an German Opera is also appealing to both Wolf Hunterz ? This shows that we are all very similar around the world - we recognize the beauty of music, across all musical genres ! Wonderful !! Lots of Love to Jon and Suzi !
Damn.. The subs lost the part when Samantha told something likes "you did that easy as chop potatoes in the kitchen" and Tim agree. Next one Mama same show pelease
Love your reaction and love love love that the entire episode including the intro and the aftermath (for lack of a better word :-)) .. The reactions of the people on the couches were mindblowing too!
This is an Aria from the Merry Widow by Franz Lehár written in 1905 - and so beautifully done by Floor as a tribute to Henk for being an inspiration and influence in her musical tastes.
Funny thing is that only Tim knew Floor and the rest doesn't realy knew what she can do with her voice including me at that time because i never heard of her too like most dutchies and she is in our eyes not very tall slightly taller than averidge but not much because most of the dutchies are tall if you compare them to the rest of the world, the dutch culture is standing with both feet on the ground and that is what she does act normal and that is crazy enough we say here in the Netherlands but when i looked up nightwish and the first one i saw was Ghost love score....i was hooked an Floor finaly is famous in the Netherlands too however we never hear Nightwish on the radio and that my friends is a shame btw great reaction thnx
But now let's do as we do at home Let's sing our ring dance rhyme About a fairy known whom at home we call Vilja! Once lived a Vilja, a maid of the woods, And hunter spotted her in rocky outcroppings! The young boy, who was Affected curiously by her presense, He looked and looked at the wood-maiden. And a shudder the boy had never known Took hold of him, Longingly he began quietly to sigh! Vilja, oh Vilja, you maid of the woods, Take me and let me be your dearest true love! Vilja, O Vilja what are you doing to me? Begs a lovesick man! The maid of the woods stretched her hand to him And pulled him into her rocky home. The boy nearly lost all his sense And so she loved him and kissed him as no earthly child. When she kissed him to his content She disappeared in an instant! The hunter waved goodbye only once before she vanished: Vilja, oh Vilja, you maid of the woods, Take me and let me be your dearest true love! Vilja, O Vilja what are you doing to me? Begs a lovesick man!
In another episode, floor is the main guest and they all sing for her. Tim sings Nightwishes Nemo and Samatha sings Our Decades in the sun. These are some songs you should watch.
Metalfans already knew... The problem is that it's not played on the radio. Maybe they are afraid listeners will leave because their not used to "noise". I miss that. I turn off the radio when I hear dutch music, can't help it, I'm allergic to most dutch music.
Look At Her! She's had 82,000 people Chanting Her Name, and she's Blushing because 6 F'ing People are gushing over her!!! Don't ever question the Queen. Long hair or Not.
An Amazon, missing the obvious: Shield Maiden for the Finnish (viking) band, Nightwish. She has a massive instrument which she seems to have mastered like none other I'm aware of these days. She's got couple of vids from her recent solo gig in Amsterdam.
You could maybe do a reaction video to "Reload" by the Metaprism, a modern melodic metal band from the United Kingdom. The members of this band are Theresa Smith (female vocals), Ollie Roberts (guitarist), Callum Downing (guitarist), Matt Hudson (bassist) and James Clarke (drummer). Their good friend Jut Tabor does the guest male (harsh and clean) vocals.
you had to wait and listen to "the phantom of the opera" in theshow .... please react to the phantom of the opera ..........you will not be dissapointed
Born in the early sixties I grew up with German TV that on the weekends often showed opera and operetta of which "Die Lüstige Witwe"("The Merry Widow") from Franz Lehar from which this aria came was a regular showing. I know this song by heart and Floor did a marvelous job, even after changing it up to a metal version.
I always have milk left in the bottom of the bowl. I am into moistness as well. Yuk Yuk! Is this a PG video? You are so right Jon! This is a great show. No competition just singers singing songs for each other. I wish we had this in America instead of the crap shows we push on TV. This song was not Henk's. It was originally an aria within the operetta "The Merry Widow" composed by the Austro-Hungarian composer Franz Lehár. It was first performed in 1905. Henk's mother used to sing it to him as a child. This was the connection that Henk had to this song. Each song is either a song done by the singer being honored or one that influenced them in their life. Love this show. So much more fun than a competition. Great job Jon and Suzie! Peace.
Henk was the first one on the hotseat season 2019, and Floor the first singer of that season. Everybody was thinking "wow and now we have to try to impress Henk" after Floor killed it.
really us reaction he think its a singer battle war??? its no AGT no respect for others singers this guy is paranoid thinking everybody s against floor ?? paranoia
This was the opening number for the season, so can you imagine being the other singers on the couch knowing that you have to follow her. Perfect quote that I saw in a live stream resumes Floor succinctly, Fan in the chat 'You are so beautiful, you are perfect', Floor's answer 'I am not and that's what's great about me.'
@@Dianen65 I believe Floor is one of those creative types who simply can't sit still and do nothing. It's a blessing and a curse. Write music, do a concert, sing a cover, build a fence...gotta be doing something all the time.
