We installed the floor pan assembly for the final time. If you have every thought about the assembly vs the bare parts watch this video. It fit very snug and the dimensions were as close as anyone could expect to get them.
Nice that would have saved a bunch of time if I would have went this rought. I put In new inner rockers and floor pans and had to scab together 3 of the floor braces because of rust or bent. You made that look easy now I kick my self. Live and learn
Yes sir it is... This one will be 80% new by the time we are done. I started on the aprons and radiator support today but found out they sent me (2) driver aprons....it had the right label on it but the wrong part. Good Luck! Thanks for watching!
Hey Jason, a general welding question. What size hole are you using for your spot welds? I have punched 5/16" holes and I spend a lot of time grinding. Watching your welding, you are on and off the trigger pretty fast. I have to spend a few seconds filling the 5/16" hole, and subsequently there is a lot of weld deposited that has to be ground off. I have experimented with my 3/16" punch, and although I seem to get a good weld some of the time, it is not consistently good. I did a little googling and found a guideline that said 5 times the thickness of the sheet metal. By my calculation, a 1/4" hole is about right. What you say?? Also, welding wire size? I am using .023". Shielding gas. Lowest setting on my little Craftsman 110V welder. Wire speed about 3.
Kevin I have my welder set very hot. That is why I can be on and off quick. If you are depositing a lot of weld your heat may be too low. I use shielding gas too with .035 wire I believe. Practice on some junk panels and turn your heat up and speed. 1/4" hole is fine for panels. Mine are usually larger because I had to drill out original welds which takes a step up sometimes to get it to release.
Do you have a recommendation from wich company to buy a full Bronco body kit with the least problems of fit and fix? Brinco Graveyards, Wild horses or Denise Carpenter
Dennis Carpenter has been good so far. Not many aftermarket parts are without flaws. They seem to be a good company and when I met the owner he seemed to be a nice fellow. Again, this is just my two cents. Thanks for watching and good luck.
