We had a conversion van back in the late 70's that we'd camp in. I loved that thing! I wish I still had it. It was just a simple one with a bed, no cupboards, but we had fake red brick paneling on the walls, and a quilted black vinyl on the roof. I can't remember what the floor was. And it had several speakers.
Lucky me! I was just wondering how Mari and Nick's build was going, you just happened to upload a few minutes ago :) Love the floor. You might already have it, but keep super glue handy. Really helped us out when we split wood or stripped screws. Just put a dab on and in minutes you're back to work!
If you are going to use planks for your floor you "MUST" glue them down to the plywood otherwise they WILL split and move and you will have grooves where dirt will collect. Thank you. Have a nice day.
You're getting there! It's looking like a real camper van! (And for some reason I want there to be chickens wandering about and inspecting your handiwork. Not that we want adorable chickens near power tools.)
That flooring looks great! I never realized how much work goes into transforming a van. 🚐 Question for Nick...is he as even keeled as he seems to be? He seems like a go with the flow, easy going kind of guy. 🙂
Hey guys, van looks great. I'm considering doing something similar with an Elgrand but have a question - are you able to get this size van certified self contained in NZ anymore? What about if you use the front seats as part of the bed (so the toilet and sink etc can go at the back)?
Hey Mari! Are you in Christchurch for the next while? There is an instameet put on by the tourism board on Sat Nov 25 that ive been invited to and I was wondering if you're interested in being my plus 1 haha =)
