I took lessons with Emerson for years and wish I would have gone to study with him at University of Maryland. He is a great man and wonderful player. I wish I had been mature enough to value him the way I do know when I knew him.
This takes me back. Distinctly remember hearing this coming from dad's practice room, falling asleep to it. He often practiced late because he was coming home from his University responsibilities or a gig.
I performed this as a sophomore in college. Lookong back on it I didn't have the musical knowledge to interpret this piece very well (just enough chops to play it) and I really enjoyed what you did starting around m. 64 with just a smidge of rubato. I might have to revisit this piece one day. Great job bud.
I played this as a freshman in high school and it was pretty challenging. I played it for NYSSMA and scored a 90. It might seem high, but I missed the all state score requirement by 7 points
