The tuning for the song is actually Drop B, that's how they play it live.

Ethan yeah, Tony Perry has said that before also. "Been using this in drop B lately. Y'kno for songs like, 'king for a day' and our newest track 'floral and fading.'" when you look up his guitar equipment on RU-vid he mentions that when he was asked about his backup ESP Viper

super helpful, but during the chorus, can you just play the 4th string open, rather than making the stretch from the first to 5th fret?
@TunedUpOfficial
@TunedUpOfficial 8 лет назад
I mean you could or you could play the first fret on the 4th string and not go to the 5th fret. I dont think it would sound really bad, but it won't be quite as accurate. But I mean make it your own! Have fun with it. I do recommend practicing that stretch, though. It'll help you in the future. But above all, have fun!
@radtrashmcradical8202

My girlfriend and I learned this by ear and we didn't make tabs and I don't really have the time to make them. I'm sorry :/. In the future I may end up asking someone to help make tabs for me to give to subscribers.

is there a way to play this song without changing the tuning?
@TunedUpOfficial
@TunedUpOfficial 7 лет назад
Yes but you would be playing the notes in completely different places than I am. They would still be the same notes, but in different spots on the guitar. If you are good at music theory then it shouldn't be hard for you, but if you aren't so good at music theory (like me) then it would be kinda difficult. All the notes i'm playing should be right, though.

This is great now I just need to buy a guitar lol Any suggestions? Im a beginner and I would like to say $200 is my max budget.
@TunedUpOfficial
@TunedUpOfficial 7 лет назад
Well are you looking for an acoustic or an electric? I'd say acoustic is better to start off with. You can get a pretty good quality acoustic for $200 or even $100. Fender, Ibanez, Gibson, and Taylor are pretty solid brands, but there are dozens of brands to choose from. My first guitar was a $100 Fender Starcaster acoustic guitar. It was a great guitar for the price, but after a year the neck started to bend (happens in a lot of guitars over time, but some can re-adjust the necks and others can't. I don't think the starcaster can). If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask. I'm no expert but I can offer my opinions and help where I can. Hope this was helpful :P

I had a first act guitar that was acoustic but it was small.I want to learn electric guitar first because most of songs I want to learn to play are on electric.I am hesitant at first to play because whenever I was messing around with the old first act my fingers hurt a bit. Why do you suggest acoustic is better to start with? just wondering
@TunedUpOfficial
@TunedUpOfficial 7 лет назад
I say acoustic is better to start with (in my opinion) for a couple reasons. One reason is that it is generally cheaper. Electric guitars usually cost more and you would need an amp to hear it well. Acoustics you can play anywhere without an amp. The second reason is that it honestly is a little harder to play acoustic. The strings are thicker and you have to press down harder to play. While this may seem like a bad thing, I think it is great to start with that and get some good calluses first. It also builds the muscles in your hand because you have to press down a little harder. That way when you play electric it will be a lot easier and you will be able to do more right when you start playing. The reason your fingers hurt a little (and they will hurt a little with electric too, just not as much) is because the skin on your fingers is pretty soft and fragile. Pressing them down fairly hard and sliding them on metal strings kinda damages the skin, but when you play fairly often, your skin begins to toughen at those spots. This creates calluses on the tips of your fingers. While this might sound bad for you, it really isn't. It's like building muscle. When you lift weights it tears the muscles, forcing them to rebuild stronger in response of you lifting more weight. So don't be scared if you fingers are sore, but of course don't play till they bleed. I've done that once and I had to stop playing for a couple days so my fingers could recover. But I got some great calluses! hah. Don't be scared to play. It might hurt a little at first, but once you get calluses after a couple weeks it won't hurt anymore. It's worth the little bit of pain. If you still want to go with electric then by all means go with electric! The brands I listed in my last comment make great electrics too. Let me know if you have any more questions. Hope this helped!

You let that last note I play ring for four beats, and then you go into the solo part that I teach. Does that make sense? Not sure if that is the part you were wondering about. Let me know. I'm here to help!
