7 years ago, while vacationing in So. Florida, Florence LaRue was so sweet and kind to me. I am disabled and I was using a walker. Florence approached me in front of the Hilton and asked if she could help in any way. She seemed so sincere, so I took her up on her offer. She put my walker in my car for me. She is beautiful person, inside and outside. :)
I agree. I have met her on several occasions as the 5th Dimension are my favorite group. She is very sweet, sincere and fan friendly. All of the 5th Dimension were like that back in the day as well.
Florence can sing the songs but Marilyn had a real profound charisma and ,I believe, the Fifth Dimension became great based mostly upon Marilyn McCoo's outstanding vocal quality and natural talent something that voice and acting lessons alone can never accomplish. It's obvious that Florence works hard though and keeping the group together is a real accomplishment.
I agree it would be awesome if Marilyn would play with the group again, but those who criticize miss the point. It’s about keeping this great music alive. People don’t live or perform forever. Florence still sounds and looks great! We should all be thankful that the legacy the original members created is carried on with future generations who get to experience this amazing music as it was meant to be heard. The group I tour with, The Miracles, who are also keeping Smokey and the Boys’ music alive, and sometimes have been accompanied by Claudette, are on the same bill with the current edition of the group later on this year in Wildwood and I am looking so forward to it. Without these dedicated performers who love this music, live performances of this great music would be lost forever!
I saw that Marilyn still is performing and still has that fantastic voice! They should regroup and make a bundle like the other 60 and 70's groups on tour!!
Florence has always been one of my favorite Fifth Dimension members! I wish that I could see her in person, because I saw her last year on Fox 4 News I April, because she had a 30 day program, 'Just As I Am 'program in my state, Texas, only it was in Dallas! Florence, can you come to Denton, Texas?
I just saw them live. They were better then this video shows. All I have to say is that you have to see them live. Great job Florence. I got to dance with her and a group of people in the front of the stage just hours ago. Great music and memories. Let the Sunshine in!!!
Beautiful sister, Too bad she had to spend her life in the giant shadow that was cast by the incomperable Marilyn cCoo. She deserves her props as well. This reminds of how Otis scraped and sraped to keep the Temptation act together Kinda like when Ali fought Holmes or when Holmes fought Tyson; when you are done you are done. love ya Flo!.
I was there, too! They did a great job, and what about the crowd that ran to the front for Let the Sunshine In? Everybody had a lot of fun, and I loved it when the group came down with the audience, to dance. It's been 43 years since I first (and last) saw them in person, over at the CNE Grandstand in 1970. I was so excited then, and couldn't wait for last night's show, too!

I will be seeing them tonight in Toronto at the EX. Too bad that Marilyn is not with them. She was a very important part of their sound. The only criticism I have of the line-up is that Florence should have picked someone who looked and sounded more like Marilyn McCoo. It would have made the group better. This female singer does not look or sound like her at all. I guess Florence did not want to be overshadowed. I am sure that the show will be fun. I like the 5th dimensions hits and music.
I agree. The they need more group harmony instead of so many solo turns. The group seemed like Florence with Patty Labelle instead of Marilyn McCoo. Florence really should choose a female singer who looks and sounds more like Marilyn McCoo if she really wants to recreate the sound of the 5th Dimension.
