Florence + The Machine - Howl (Live on Letterman) 

I'm forever convinced that this is the most underrated FATM song.

People from the world, start to listen to that lady. It's so rare to see an artist who can outdone the studio version nowasdays.

The best thing about Florence + the Machine (besides Florence's voice) is how they use drums.

Here for the nostalgia in 2022. Good God is this one of my favorite FATM songs. The range she has to hit is absolutely ridiculous! Dislocated my jaw in the car trying to sing along full voice back when it was first released.

I love the way she takes control of the stage starting when she comes out and beats that drum. She is mesmerizing!

The best thing is if you see her live, she sounds EXACTLY like she does in her albums, in fact she sounds even BETTER. I highly suggest if you can, go see her I'm concert. It's an experience you won't forget.

I read comments about debating which version is best: the studio one, or this one. When you listen to a few other live performances, you can hear several good ones, but this one stands out in particular. Reason is: she's nervous but confident, she's top shape, and the TV crew, above par. This performance is the results of the combination of all those favourable factors. The crescendo at 2:31 would've made me jump out of my chair. I wish I'd been there, that night.

Who can even dislike this? Her voice is stunning! That's what you call talent and a true artist!

She really puts herself into the music, and she's one of the few singers now who has a natural voice, one that doesn't need autotune and always sounds good live, as well as in the tracks she sings.

This woman oh my god

this was the first Florence song I ever heard and I immediately went and bought the whole album, but this still remains one of my favourite songs on that album. Since then I've seen her in concert 4 times and she's my favourite band. I can't help but notice that she seemed a lot more comfortable when she started performing barefoot and in long dresses or pants than she does here, in heels that look quite painful to wear, she is not skipping about or moving around the stage much

When I watch her sing I can't help but smile. I don't know if it's just me but I'm just so proud of her and how she's just being herself, immersing herself into the music. It's just incredible to watch as a fan.

I honestly don't get why people don't like her! She's got THE MOST amazing voice ever, the most amazing vocals in the world and is just a plain good singer!

When Florence sings, you can really see it that she do it because she loves what shes doing. And I love what she do! That passion is just amazing!

"Magnificent" or "perfect" just scratch the surface. :D Considering the fact that I'm only 13, I should typically be listening to Justin Bieber and other manufactured pop artists, but nope! This song, which started of being originally about a werewolf before developing into a ditty about extremely passionate love, was clearly influenced by the gothic horror stories she read as a child. Welch told The Scotsman January 25, 2009: "When I was a kid, I was physically afraid of monsters and ghosts, vampires and werewolves. It was a scary couple of years and I don't know if I am over it yet. I've toned it down but I still have to wake up at night and turn the light on. Now I translate it into songs and try to become the werewolf." Welch told the story behind the song on her website: "I was in a really intense emotional state for this one! I'd been so drunk and so badly behaved that I felt like a beast, I felt feral. I turned up to the studio wearing the same clothes from the night before and I was an emotional wreck.
