I like the song, but I don't like all things new cause they represent some weird stuff most of the time and are deeper than what we think. People often for get that things can be spiritual as well. So yes not all new things are new.

Ooh, yes!!! I have been a fan of Waterhouse since I was a teen (many long ages ago lol) and my mother had a print of his. Now I have several of my own, he is one of my absolute favorite artists and I totally see the influence in the pic in this video.

But how it comes she is "no mother" if that's exactly the highest power a woman possibly has, being made co-creator and instrumental of Mother Nature's own power? To form a human being out of your own flesh and blood, isn't that amazing? But a woman can give birth to great ideas and poetry, art and music and that's also creation.

@@nestordavidgonzalezrodrigu140 (sorry for long comment) issue is- treating being capable of getting pregnant to be a woman's greatest power is exactly what has caused so much disrespect and abuse to women. Women in the past were not commonly valued for what they were capable of but instead valued just for the fact they could push out more men. If a woman hasn't had children people shame her and pressure her, if she had kids too soon in her life (10 yrs old and older) people shame her even if she was forced to. If she has children but no husband, she's still shamed. I'm not saying that's what the lyric is about, but there's an issue with how women get told that being able to have babies is their highest power. Some women dont want kids, some can't have any, and many have DIED with or without their unborn baby trying. And now/still women don't even have a choice if they want to or not. Getting pregnant is only empowering if you chose to get pregnant, but when its forced upon you it loses what should've been an empowering thing.

Regardless it is a beautiful song, just as we’ve come to expect from Florence Welch. I just saw them at the Hollywood Bowl and, My God, what a fantastic show. Even with the power going out and the rain, Florence put on an Amazing show.

I think she is torn between being this or that, but really when we look at ourselves we are more strong in one way as women but less of what we expect of ourselves or what others perceive, do we choose Art over other things or people? But we are still pulled into doing the service or rituals of life.

@@BBB-to4cc She needs her “golden crown of sorrow” and her “bloody sword to swing" trading comfort for creative fulfillment. “The very thing you’re best at is the thing that hurts the most" It's a patriarchal society and it's her choice to decide if she will (to detriment) sacrifice her creative freedom to be a mother and a wife. She's always seen herself equal to men but now she's feeling the pressures of a woman torn. Male rock stars can have it all, wife, kids, rock star status and creativity. She feels as a woman she doesn't have quite the same right. She'll be judged more. Women are judged more.

The lyrics speak to be so clearly as a trans person… and also to my best friend who is a cisgender mother. We relate in the exact same way about the lyrics despite our seemingly vastly different experiences of sex and gender.
